Here's a model of Rey's Speeder that I was commissioned by someone at Marvel to do earlier this year. This type of modelling definitely isn't my thing, especially since I use very few plugins. I probably only used RoundCorner and Pipe Along Path to build this. Once its public, I'll post up what it was ultimately used to create.

    • ::Restaurant:: 3d Panorama

long time no see, guys.. I need to go through and catch up with a whole bunch of posts and look at all the good stuff that's been being posted.

it seems as though 3d panorama's are coming back around in popularity with the advent of google cardboard, etc. its been a good 5 years since I've done one but I've had a few inquiries lately so I figured I'd mess around with a restaurant we designed because the model was pretty complete (just have to disregard the exterior...I should've made the curtains more opaque.

i happened to pick up a google cardboard viewer last week at a convention and this is really fun to look at with the viewer.

These are awesome, Edson. Have missed seeing your work.

I'm about to start documenting an addition to my home with LayOut. Documentation is not my thing!

I rolled the dice on this: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/tiko3d/tiko-the-unibody-3d-printer/description

      It was cheap enough..

I've been following along with what you've been doing. I'm slowly getting into it. Have a printer coming my way soon.

I think they just went with fast and flexible because they were getting alot of them. I'm a bit out of the loop because it was a client of a client. My client said they're a little wesk though and they probably should've used something else.

Oli..it is intersected and I got rid of any conflicting geometry. But, the client said they wanted to just tie a ribbon around the center. They had 200 of them printed. When I get one in the mail, I'll snap a pic.

    • RE: First 3d print... couple of questions

I dont think the 'head' is centered enough to be the hanger. In the second image, I posted the small loop that I had added.

This is going to be sent to shapeways to get printed.

    • First 3d print... couple of questions

So I'm having a simple (I think) print done for someone of their logo to be used as a holiday ornament. I extruded their logo and rounded the endges and I think all is ok?

Since its going to be an ornament and needs a spot to hang, I added a small loop in the center of the model. Is this going to be an issue because it will end up being above the printing bed? I've got the loop in the center and the weight roughly looks like it will be even on any sides.. any thoughts on this? If anyone's got a better idea for the hanger, i'm certainly open.

Let me know if you see any other issues. Thanks so much!

    • RE: Npr home exterior

these are really great.. I dont think it needs it, but I've gone to the trouble of modelling siding before, to get the corners right. model one row, copy it up a bunch of times.

*edit.. guess i should've read the last posts!
