Thanks for the pic tutorial. I'll get pictures of the model up when it's done...even though it's not even a final model. How I love being an architecture student.

PERFECT! xrok...I can't thank you enough!
And now...to build the model...here comes a looong night. Yay!

RE: Flatten a building...
Well all the faces are unfolded already that's why it doesn't look like anything...
ok so I figured out how to drop them to the same y plane. Now I just have to rotate them to all be on the same x plane. Thanks sooo much for the help

RE: Flatten a building...
I'm sorry...but I'm having trouble figuring it out haha
I'm uploading the .skp and if you have a moment could you try?

RE: Flatten a building...
It was in the tools folder so I made a copy of it into the plugins folder but it still doesn't work

RE: Flatten a building...
Hmm I don't have a little eraser...just "report this post"
Either way...I installed the smartdrop plugin but I can't find it in sketchup.

RE: Flatten a building...
I found the drop.rb script but I get a popup saying "no such file to load - engine/command"
I'm assuming this is another script that is needed for drop to run...where can I find it?
MOD: delete above post please.

RE: Flatten a building...
One more question...
Now that I have all my pieces taken apart how do I get them to lay flat on the same plane? I know I could use the move/rotate tools but is there an easier way?

RE: Flatten a building...
Heads up to everyone:
The Ruby script does EXACTLY what I wanted it to do. Thanks so much. You guys are life(and time!) savers.

RE: Flatten a building...
Ohhh thanks sooo much. That will work but I was thinking something along these lines...

Flatten a building...
Ok so I'm not even sure how to describe what I need to do but I will try and hopefully one of you can help me out. I know this process is possible in Rhino but I don't know how to do it in Rhino or SUP.
I have a 3D building and I need each face/panel/wall of the buildings exterior flattened onto a 2 dimensional plane so I can print it out, glue it to a piece of chipboard and then cut it out so I can build a physical model of my drawing. The building is mainly a bunch of triangles so having to measure each angle onto chipboard would be very tedious. Does anyone understand what I'm even trying to do?
Thanks

RE: Must Have Ruby Plugins - Visual Index (Discussion)
Ahh yes thank you for the reply.
I figured out how the idea of ruby works. It's brilliant, imo, that Google uses this rather then "installing" plugins in the traditional form. This way, as you said, very few plugins are PC specific. I swear, Google impresses me more and more everyday

Will these plugins work on the mac version as well?

Hello
Hi all,
My architecture teacher recommended this forum for me. Hope you guys can help and once I get better then I can help out too.
