Ok so I'm not even sure how to describe what I need to do but I will try and hopefully one of you can help me out. I know this process is possible in Rhino but I don't know how to do it in Rhino or SUP.

I have a 3D building and I need each face/panel/wall of the buildings exterior flattened onto a 2 dimensional plane so I can print it out, glue it to a piece of chipboard and then cut it out so I can build a physical model of my drawing. The building is mainly a bunch of triangles so having to measure each angle onto chipboard would be very tedious. Does anyone understand what I'm even trying to do?

    Thanks

first go to your camera menu and select parallel projection, then right click the wall you want and select align view. 😄

              Heads up to everyone:

The Ruby script does EXACTLY what I wanted it to do. Thanks so much. You guys are life(and time!) savers.

                One more question...

Now that I have all my pieces taken apart how do I get them to lay flat on the same plane? I know I could use the move/rotate tools but is there an easier way?

smartdrop will work on a plane that isn't flat 😄

I found the drop.rb script but I think I get a popup saying "no such file to load - engine/command"

I'm assuming this is another script that is needed for drop to run...where can I find it?

you need sketchup.rb in your tools folder, can you check for that?

You should have already had sketchup.rb in your SU V6 /Tools folder. If it is not there, I would suggest you re-install SU V6.

It was in the tools folder so I made a copy of it into the plugins folder but it still doesn't work 😕

the little eraser is only there as long as your post is the very last one, when someone posts after you its gone.

smartdrop and drop will appear in the right click menu near the bottom. drop and smartdrop only appear and work if you have a group or component selected. they won't work just on faces.

first of all, i can't imagine how that's a building. 😆 but anyways; smartdrop and drop both need something to drop onto such as a face. but they will not rotate your shapes for you.

Well all the faces are unfolded already that's why it doesn't look like anything... 😄

ok so I figured out how to drop them to the same y plane. Now I just have to rotate them to all be on the same x plane. Thanks sooo much for the help
