RE: German Tiger Tank
Thanks. Mental Ray did most of the work here. It's easy to use.

What filter did you apply in PS? I'd really like to do something similar with my own castle and use for paintings inside the castle itself
Just a watercollor, nothing special. some of the details were directly painted in PS, like the trees and trails.
from my experience I raise the image resolution before applying the filter to get a better result (on low resolution, eg: 1024x768 you get more washed out results. on higher res the details are more sharp)

Nice model, not quite a zimmerit coat but a good texture finish.
noticed they had a rugged appearance but didn't know these tanks used a special coating. thanks for pointing it out.

Great models and renders, Lengyel.
So you did the old train and this tank in one day, without plugins?
Cheers!

Thanks Ken. they took me a couple of weeks to build. The tank + the scene render needed some plugins, such as draw on surface and Artisan for the terrain.

RE: Old train
Yes I tried. but it does not seem to work on SU 8, and SU 2013 is not compatible with XP (I use XP).

German Tiger Tank
Watching all the D-Day docs on TV compelled me to build a tank, and so I eventually chose the German Tiger. Built in SU, Rendered in Mental Ray.

RE: Castle Gate Scene
Thanks. I meant that it doesn't measure up to works that pros around here post. For example the photoshop filter itself was an afterthought, to cover up parts of the scene that looked too empty. Yielded interesting results either way. I just remembered that I wanted to add a couple of waving flags too, but completely forgot to draw them. ah well.

Castle Gate Scene
Castle scene made in SU, rendered in Mental Ray & finished in Photoshop. First attempt at a medieval scene, so its not as good as it could have been. Please comment, especially with regards to the composition.

RE: Plugin to soften / divide corners?
Thanks for the advice.
Regarding the 'On Edge' pink lines. Sometimes when I try to draw them, SU simply won't 'snap' as it should. The line does not turn pink. Maybe there's a key shortcut to force SU to create such a line? Just curious, it isn't a huge problem.

Plugin to soften / divide corners?
Hello. I need a few tips. Is there some plugin that lets you 'soften' corners, as in the following:
Also, I would like to know how I can force the program to draw even (equally distant between two points) lines on face corners, like the one seen here:
Sometimes sketchup will refuse to draw these lines and its fairly annoying. And before I forget - is there a way to 'tie' lines in together (an option that is opposite to the 'explode' command)? I have sketchup 8. Thanks.

RE: Portfolio Site
Cool. Just note that it does not work very well with firefox. I open it and there are two large black areas on the left and top. and it loads/scrolls very slowly in my browser. what programs did you use again (for the models)?

RE: Some more trains
Thanks. You mean these? http://www.warwickshirerailways.com/lms/smj/stratfordonavon/shed/smjsa95.jpg
They look interesting but I'm not familiar with British locos. might look into some blueprints some day.

RE: Tips on creating this type of geometry?
Component stringer looks like a reliable tool. thanks
