RE: Terminator Production Line
Probably just stills. My texturing isnt that great so i brush up in photoshop, for that reason alone animation is out of the question at the moment.

RE: Robobobo in progress
You should export into another 3d program for animation, look at blender its also free! You say you want to use this model to apply for school what is it you want to study? If its 3d design you should look at learning a few other programs that are better for modelling?

RE: Terminator Production Line
well here are some updates and the hiddel line pics somebody asked for. Incase you didnt read earlier the human organic shapes where imported from max.

Impressive!
The flesh, was it created in SketchUp?
Can you also show a shot of the flesh with Hidden Geometry on? I would like to see the intersections up close.Nah mate I honestly did try but my sketchup skills dont stretch as far as to create organic looking tissue, it was just too blocky. Sketchup just doesnt provide the tools to create such items. I know it can be done ive seen people do it but it would have taken me to long. I used 3dsmax8 converted the mesh to 3ds and made each individual body part so it could be moved around in SU. i edit some parts of the mesh so they would intersect with my terminator model. Ill post some pics of the hidden geometry if you would like?
However i would also be interested to know how you 'would' go about creating the muscle tissue using sketchup alone? without having to resort to another programme.Ive just finished another image ill post that later, its a true fusion between organic figures and SU. basically in the book humans are harvested for flesh and have metal appliances grafted to them, sort of like the borg form star trek. Well its my favourite so far bit gory but ill post it when I can and show the hidden line version aswell for those who are interested.

RE: Airplane Study
A sharks teeth WW2 paint scheme would look pretty good you up for that?

RE: Terminator Production Line
In case you didnt read the first post the first two terminators are edited versions of Xazers model from the warehouse. Thats a T-800 im making the T-700. When its finished ill go back and stick mine in its place. The one with the muscle is my model from scratch its about 60% complete, going to be epic when its done! stay tuned.

RE: Airplane Study
yeah that third image in the clouds is good, is it finished yet?

RE: Terminator Production Line
And saving the best for last here is the muscle growth. They should probably be in some sort of tank but I thought it would look better like this, and was also happy with the striking pose with the arms pulled behind them.
I started off making a tank but it just didnt look right so I started from scratch. And ended up with this...

RE: Terminator Production Line
And here is the arm assembly, not completly happy with this yet so needs a lil bit more work

Terminator Production Line
Thought id post some of my other work as work on my star trek scene has stopped now until this is finished. recently I bought the artbook for the new terminator film over 240 pages of just concept art and cgi models. At the back there where five or six pages on the terminator production line so I thought it would be cool if i produced a number of stills showing the different phases of assembly. So far ive completed three over the last month or so. The clay renders are in Podium and the final images are in Photoshop drawn over the sketchup images. Im three quarters of the way through writing a tutorial in this technique hopefully it will be finished by next week.
Thanks for Xazer I used his model head for a base to edit upon it with some extra details and fine tuning. Im making my own terminator from scratch its about 60% complete you can see it in the final post with the muscle growth chamber and ill replace it with his head in the first post.
My terminator comes complete with layers of muscle and skin and will be battle damaged/scared. Im having to assemble it in blender as the poly count is killing sketchup, you should see a finished version by the weekend I might post what ive done so far later.

RE: Star Trek Ship Under Construction

RE: Nomeradona's Interior (update Mar'12)
wow nice renderings I didnt know you could render like that in Podium cant wait to render my trek construction ship, well done on the SU/Render styling as well!

RE: Star Trek Ship Under Construction
Well im back form london now so expect some updates coming pretty soon. I was going to buy Podium before i went to London but never had time so ill have to get in touch with Sepo tomorrow and get it sorted. There is lots of detail you haven't seen yet as my renders are too small with Podium free version so ill be doing a full size render this weekend.
@ tomislavm, you should try and give it a go as well if you had an idea, if you want you can help me make some refinery/ industrial buildings as ive got a lot of them to do? and i would appreciate the help as ive still got loads to do on the ship.

RE: Star Trek Ship Under Construction
No I work on different sections at the same time in different documents and compile them only for render shots to save on memory usage, you understand? No even I dont work that quick although not far from it (I wish lol), however i only started this model last night ive done quite a bit in 24 hours.
Yes i really want to join the next speed modelling challenge I was gutted I just missed out on this one when is the next Chris? hopefully ill be back from London before it begins -
RE: Star Trek Ship Under Construction
Thanks just waiting for one last render then finished for now. Ive included a shot of just the dry dock facility as well for a quick render. SU is starting to get slower but not slow enough for me to stop working. The files just under 35MB at the moment hopefully ill get this model nailed before the poly count goes beserk lol. At the moment the scaffold is all just floating there support structures to come. Off to London till thursday so no more updates after this>

RE: First post...
Nice i really like those shots of each floor. What did you use for rendering? Dont really like the first image the car and some elements of the building stand out as very cartoony contrasted with all the rendered trees etc?
(in the first image only I mean the other shots are spot on!) -
RE: Star Trek Ship Under Construction
some updates. Got a refinery model from the warehouse as a placeholder while I work on the ship and scaffolding.

RE: SU in web design feedback welcome
wow those photo tours are pretty cool and with hardly any loading times too!
