    • RE: How can I photmatch

Thanks all for your ideas. I gave up and decided it was more trouble than it was worth to do a SU model and try to match it with the bad photo. I just added plants, grass and trees in photoshop. It seemed very difficult getting the results I wanted in the time that i needed. Photoshop was quick and was ok for what the client needed. I need to get better at photo shop;). In any case I have attached my result.

    • RE: How can I photmatch

Unfortunately, the picture is all I have to work with and the emphasis is not the building but the landscaping at the entrance. It's a very difficult problem. They want to see the actual building in the background. I was hoping to get a good match w modeling only the landscaping at the entrance them blend the rendered. Are there any tuts on how to set this type up. Still at a loss on where to begin setting up the match. BTW, I do have a cad plan to scale.

      Thanks.

I need help with matching photo.
Any advice would be grateful. Are the buildings to far in the background to use as reference?

I wonder how many other people have this problem. Some guy's seem to be luckier than others;)
But this is very frustrating and I consider my self an expert in sketchup. Please save us SU 7.
Sketchup doesn't play by it's own rules in this regard.

    • RE: Closing planes

That's what I was afraid of, a lot of trial n error. Thanks though! I will try and duplicate what you have done. This has always been a challenge for me, trying to clean up imported acad dwgs. I hope su will improve in this area to eliminate the trial n error.

    • RE: Closing planes

I have exploded everything. I have intersect with model, eliminated stray lines, intersect overlapping lines. What else can I do? 😞 I'm running out of options to make the planes close correctly.

    • RE: Closing planes

Thinks Remus. I was looking for a logical explanation. I did use the flatten script, however. How did you identify the lines as being elevated? They all look like they have the same elevation. Problem unresolved 😞

    • Closing planes

I need help on closing planes on the model attached. I've used every ruby trick you can think of. Can some one help me debbug this model to get the planes to close. Its not showing any stray lines which makes it even more difficult to find errors.

I liked the trees around the first image better. They frame the view around the house, a much better composition.

umm...I wonder where "President Bush" falls on this list. Doesn't he have more experience than all the candidates combined? Is he the most qualified. I would be curious to know how many people voted for Bush once or twice with all his qualifications. 😎

    • RE: ALIGNING PERP TO CURVE

Thanks Tom, I thought about that as one way. That would require finding the center point of the curve. The method that i used was draw a line perpendicular to each mullion. Then align each bracket to this line.

BTW when zooming in how can I avoid the clipping of the view that occurs? Im having a tough time getting in close to view things. I know this has been talk about quite a bit but never knew if there was a solution. I tried changing zoom factor but this did not help.

    • ALIGNING PERP TO CURVE

I'm trying to align the brackets around a curve. The bracket must be perpendicular to the point along the curve. Is there a quick method for doing this? See attached jpg.
