Thanks
“Never used but seems that give LAYER, TEXT, PERIMETER, AREA, UNITS ”
Yes that is true but only after you export as csv file is that info available.
Nice feature but not quite what I was hoping for
Thanks

**I’ve been using Sketch-up to do a lot of Commercial Roofing material takeoffs.
I import the image of the roof, scale it and make faces of the required areas.
Then I select a face with the text tool and it puts the area of that face on the screen.
What I really like is to be able to get the Perimeter of face
Is there an easier way to get the Perimeter of face. Now I select an edge/ edges and get length from the Entity Info window, then add that to the face with the text tool.
That I’d really like would to be able to select a face, select a tool? Like the text tool, and be able to place text showing the area, perimeter, or both of the selected face.
Any Plugins or Extensions that might do that?
Does TIG’s AreaTextTag Tool give Perimeter or just area?
Thanks**
I’m trying to import or set a location from Google earth into SU8
I thought there was an option to “get current view” that I have in GE all ready to go.
I’ve also tried to save the file in GE as a KMZ and import it into SU but every attempt it fails at 75%
I saw a video on you tube and that’s where they choose “get current view” but he had a MAC, does this option exist in SU8 windows?
Thanks
This GE file has a semi-transparent overlay on it, but even with the overlay turned off and re- saved it failed to import into SU
**First I’d like to say what a wonderful website this is.
I’m new to Sketchup and have found many answers to my questions and much more. Information is top notch. I would not have gotten as far as I have using Sketchup with out this site.
Now for my first question
I want to check out Sketchup 8 Pro, I know I can download a trail version that is good for about 8 hours I think.
I have Sketchup 8 Free installed now.
Will the Pro overwrite my free version? I have many plugins and materials and such installed I don’t want to lose them.
If I make a copy of the Plugins folder can I copy it to the Pro version if I decide to upgrade and if I don’t upgrade will I have to download the free version again.
I'm interested in Layout in the Pro version, I’ve been playing around Double Cad using it for a “layout” paper space but want to try Sketchup 8 Pro to what I’m missing
I’m retired from the construction business, was involved mainly in engineered wood products ( Plated trusses, LVL, I-Joist) .. Used AutoCad many years and lots of manufactures programs ( TrussJoist, Boise Cascade, MiTek… ect)
Still help out some builder friends time to time and have really enjoyed working in SU
Thanks Judd**
