I love Sketch-up - but that love is being undermined by an inference problem I have and don't seem to be get rid of. The problem is that inference points 'snap' to the back of a choice of elements. For instance, if i have two surface one in front of the other and i put the cursor over the top one I get the blue 'on face' inference mark. However if I left click on that point to, say, define one end of a line I find that it has picked the face of the surface behind. It didn't use to be this way. Have I toggled some option? And if so what? Any help would be most appreicated. Jon

RE: 2D drawing planes
Thats all very well but nferencing doesn't work outside the face you are working on and drawing a rectangle only works on one of the three main axis's.

2D drawing planes
I have a wish. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to temporarily fix a 2d drawing plane into ones model. For instance wouldn't it be nice to be able to fix a drawing plane onto the front face of a building to allow the drawing of windows, doors and other features directly onto the elevation without worring about being on the face (actually this may not be the best example since I accept that this is not too difficult at the moment). In my imagination it would only be possible to place the ends on lines in that plane so you could be sure of achieving flat planes and it would make it easy-peasy to extend planes beyond their orginal shape.
Anybody else think this would be useful?

RE: Line weight.
Decipher mention that you could increase the resolution of an outputed .jpeg image by increasing the the width to 3000px. I don't seem to be able to change the default 1296 setting upwards. Is this feature only available in Sketchup Pro?

RE: Selection Problem
Thanks for that.
It definately not a group or component problem. Further work seems to suggest that I can only select the item at the back of the view I am working in (which is not at all helpful).

Selection Problem
Help!
I have been building a fairly large and complex model. When I opened it today I found that I coundn't select a number of the part of the model apart from by a selection box (i.e. I can't select a line by clicking on it) nor can I snap onto any part of these identities. Anybody got any idea want has happened or how I can fix it?
I was experimenting with styles the last time I used the model. Could this be a factor?
Thanks in anticipation.
