In my sketchup model style, I have extensions set at 1, so they don't show in the model. In layout, the extensions still show. Is there a setting in layout that's causing this? I'm using version 15.3.331. Thanks

RE: Strange Warehouse behavior
Thanks, Dave. I'll keep checking. I'm currently running 2013 and 2014 as I transition to 2014. Same behavior on both versions. Must be something on my computer or possibly a network connection issue.

Strange Warehouse behavior
I'm trying to download models of roof tiles. I'm typing "roof tiles" in the search box, and have checked "models". After starting the search, I see a group of models come up, and then they flash off and the Warehouse screens goes blank. This isn't happening on searches of other models.
Could someone check if this is happening on their computer as well?
Thanks

RE: Layers panel doesn't show
Okay. Thanks guys. I am using 2 monitors. I'll check around and try to find it.

Layers panel doesn't show
The layers panel doesn't show when I click the layer manager icon or when I go to Window/Layers. This has not been a problem until recently. Other panels show fine. I've restarted, rebooted, and that doesn't help. I've checked other SU files, and they have the same problem. I opened a new file and drew a simple cube on the 0 layer. The layer drop-down shows layers exist, carried over from another project, I assume. But, even so, layers panel isn't showing. I'm attaching the file with the cube. I'm curious if this behavior shows up on someone's else computer, or is a problem with my computer or possibly corrupted SU software.

RE: Showing Spanish Roof tiles in Layout
Thanks PBACOT, I came to the same conclusion of using a grayscale. Unfortunately, the Art Jury down here wants only straight line drawings, no shading or shadows. I'm pretty resigned now to stick with ACAD for submittals to this Agency, and continue learning and using LO for client presentation work.

RE: Showing Spanish Roof tiles in Layout
Thanks everyone for your help. I'll try this workaround and see what happens.

RE: Showing Spanish Roof tiles in Layout
I did look at the instant roof plugin. Thanks Rashad. It's really good. I bought the pro version yesterday for sketchup modeling. But it doesn't solve the problem in Layout. Yesterday I did a vector rendering of the layout file and tried drawing some simple tiles on the roof edge, with the idea of copying them to important locations. I thought if this works I could save them to the scrapbook for future use. Being new to Layout, I'm not sure if this is a workable approach, but seems to be worth the time. What do you think?

RE: Showing Spanish Roof tiles in Layout
The color/texture sheet is too big to send, but you can see the tiles on the color perspective in black and white attachment.

RE: Showing Spanish Roof tiles in Layout
Dave, I uploaded 2 layout sheets. One has all colors and textures, and the other is the same using a different style to get black and white. I need the color rendering for my client, but the local design review board won't accept color drawings. (Don't try to find any logic in that. There is none. Drives me nuts!) Anyway, that's why I'm trying to get a black and white drawing that shows mission tile instead of just straight roof edges.

Showing Spanish Roof tiles in Layout
I do a lot of designs using Spanish roofing tiles. Is there a way to show them in Layout that looks good for presentation drawings? I'm particularly concerned with making the eaves and ridges look good...not just flat as the Sketchup roof tile texture shows. I tried using a U.S. Tile component downloaded from the Warehouse, and duplicating all over the roof in my Sketchup model, but the file gets huge because of the multiple components and colors, and it doesn't translate well to layout. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

RE: Slow zoom
Thanks Dave. Been away. The wired mouse is the same. I'll check settings and see if I can find anything. Right now it takes about 3-4 spins of the wheel to get from zoom extents to closs-in, and it's kind of jerky. Gets faster once I get in closer.
Is there a "zoom window" command on layout that can get me in close? I can't find a command like that on Layout.

RE: Slow zoom
Thanks Richard. That's better but it's still cumbersome compared to sketchup, which let's me zoom in super close exactly where my curser sits, with one quick spin of the wheel. When using Z in layout, I often have to zoom and pan and zoom again to get where I want. Guess I'll get better with time.

Slow zoom
Zooming using my mouse center wheel takes many spins, and is pretty slow. Is this a limitation of the mouse or Layout? I'm using a Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 5000.

That was easy! Thanks, Richard

How to show different cladding options on the same model.
I'm modeling a house and want to show the client what it would look like with shingles compared to lap siding. Can I do this using the same layout and sketchup files?

Using section cuts to set foreground and background depths
I'm trying to create a section through the front of my model of a house and not see what's going on at the rear property. I heard there's a way to a group a foreground and background section cut so both can be active at the same time. I can't get it to work. Anyone out there with experience on this subject? I could use fog to achieve the effect, but am curious about the section grouping technique. Thanks.

Stone texture
I'm looking for a stone texture to match ElDorado Orchard Cypress Ridge. See attached photo from the ElDorado Stone Products brochure. Has anyone found something like this?
