I seem to be having problems access your site. Something I should be aware of?
Hi jaxcoffee,
I am not experiencing any problems, so please try again http://www.valiarchitects.com
What browser are you using? We are still trying to figure out this website stuff --- the different web browsers, different languages, different operating systems... Any feedback is welcome, so we can get our interface working without glitches.
Thanks,
Chuck
I use Chrome, and the error message I was getting was a server or host error. I just don't recall what it said. Sorry, but all is well now. Thanks Great plug-in's.

Well SketchUcation modelers. FYI the model that was configured, and placed on the 3D Warehouse for approval in GE using the Lat and Long coordinates as an address got approved.
So placing a model in Google Earth, where there is no record of map information is possible.
Check it out here.
Thanks

and that cloud over there looks like a ducky!
Sure! That's easy for you to point out! Your arms aren't cemented to you side.

Well, for my only SU building on the GE 3D Layer, I gave the info although when looking that place up in Google Maps, it puts it into a completely different place. So it does not really have a real value IMO.
Well, I've pulled up the model and will get it uploaded, so I'll send you a link and we can both watch and see if maybe this is something we both can learn from.
Thanks so much for all your help my friend.

Why bother with the address area? That doesn't have to be filled in!
I just always have filled it in. Not a requirement for approval?
I guess that is another reason why I asked. I just always assumed it needed to be to confirm location.

Hi Jax,
You can of course do that (if the Lat/Long is precise enough). You would also need to know the exact orientation of the buildings to the north of course.
Now another question; are these buildings ready yet (and only the imagery is old)? I mean you know the acceptance criteria... Or they are just plans?
Also, are there marked streets/roads all around the lots? And if yes, are they accurately placed? In this case you could use GMaps to precisely locate/align your buildings.
Thanks Gaieus,
The buildings exist, and the coordinates given place the markers right on top of the buildings. They have also sent elevation pictures.
Here is the Lat and Long so you can take a look. This is for a place marker I put there myself. I have all the other coordinates for placing the buildings.
Lat: 16Β° 7'28.79"S
Long: 57Β°43'43.41"W
So if this is doable, how would I place this information in the address area of the upload page for 3D Warehouse? Just put Lat and Long in the address area?
Thanks again for the input.
It all started when they put their steering wheels on the wrong side of the car. I'll let you figure out which one is correct!! LOL!
Has anyone used Lat and Long coordinates as an address in a model, and have had it approved for the GE 3D layer?
I have a client who has given me coordinates of each building of his business location, that is not even been mapped out yet, but is viewable in Google Earth. He wants me to model the structures for him to be viewable in Google Earth.
Appreciate the input.

I thought JB was a lesbian. . .although I had never heard of him until about a week ago.
She isn't?
Nice to see your still modeling Lee. Hows married life?
I liked grabbing the Ariel from Google Earth better. The graphics coming into 8 seem a little fuzzy to me with this new method. I'll have to test it on some other regions, but it's a little clumsy, most likely because it's new. Old work flows die hard.

sketchup.. . great way to get girls! Girls dig SU users
so I've heard. . ..I mean I've been married for 30 years. ..
but I hear things.
Selectively of course!
Marketing and Promotion. 3D models within GE are tied directly into "Local Business Listings" at "Google Places." and "Google Maps." used correctly,it's a powerful marketing promotional tool.
I fully expect a referral percentage from everyone that now goes and does this for their clients.

It all depends what you call historical building. Around the main square of the historic centre of my city, non of the buildings are younger than a hundred years (but some are near 300 years old and the mosque in the middle was built in the 16th century, during the Ottoman conquest). See this page for instance. The "newest" building is the town hall built in 1908 after the previous one (from the mid 19th century) exploded because a stupid pharmacist who had his shop on the ground floor kept gunpowder in the back of his shop
I regularly re-model Ancient (Roman, medieval) buildings however. To me, a hundred year old(ish) "reconstruction" of something almost built, like these BauHaus buildings is rather modern architecture than history.
Europe diffidently has a different history then what we have here in the USA. So your point is well taken Gaieus. I might have needed to be more specific as to who I was address my question to.
Thanks for what you shared.
The interest that I have is finding out what is being used as resources for those that model history here in the US.
