I have to say that I can't STAND Vectorworks!

After a decade of AutoCAD it feels like some kind of toy. Call it VagueCAD and you would have a better idea. Even after four years of use I can't stand it... nasty! (we're still on V11.5 BTW)

After that I think OS X finder is pretty crap.

    • RE: Sketchup and vectorworks

I just had a quick search and found this thread. I have been doing it the other way round; SU>Vectorworks

I have been exporting all the views I need from SU as DWG then importing them to Vectorworks in order to detail over the top of them.

I wish there was a more transparent way of having the whole model in VW, especially the colours and solid shapes, because it takes a lot of time to rebuild the drawing in VW.

I have on one occasion exported to PNG, which exports shaded objects as 2D faceted objects so the shading is retained, but I have had to import the PNG to Illustrator then export/import to VW... which messes up the scale πŸ˜’

An example is attached... the images are just JPG exports BTW

I'd never thought of actually drawing whilst changing scene ether. Thanks!

      Why is that?

Well if I am going to take time to go to a seminar I would want to know that it is well worth the trip, cost and time wise.

I'm London based and would be up for a mini seminar somewhere. I have been using SU since V2.

I'm up for it. I like the Berlin suggestion, but a couple of day trip anywhere in Europe is a goer for me.

I would feel a lot more comfortable going if there was some Google input though.

    • RE: Leopard hang fix

      inio you are a Genius

I sometimes like to use my girlfriend's macbook at home (I normally use a MacPro at work) and found the hang time on SU was just unbearable.

Your fix has totally sorted it; amazing... how come Google don't sort this on a release, or even put your patch on the help site?

It is even making me wonder whether to save the cash on the difference between buying a MacBook Pro vs MacBook for my home machine...

Nice model, very 'architectural' out of interest, where is it?
