Gaius: Don't mean to be a PITA, but 1) I don't have any Documents and Settings folder on my machine, 2) I have listed all the .layout files on my machine, and the templates are not among them. I'm running a standard install of Windows 7 x64, and Folder Options is set to display all hidden files. I'm mystified. J

RE: How to delete template in layout?
Gaius:
Thanks for your message. I am using Windows 7, and in my Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/LayOut file there is no Templates folder. In fact, there is no file on my entire system named templates. Must be a Sketchup 8 thing.

How to delete template in layout?
I have created a custom template that I no longer need and would like to delete, but I can't figure out how to do it. Windows "search" doesn't find anything when I search on the template name. There must be a way!

OEM Versions
I see "OEM" versions of Sketchup Pro available for download at prices as low as $25. Seems too good to be true. What is the deal?

Layout
Is it necessary to buy Sketchup Pro to use Layout, or is there a work-around?

How to delete undead human figure
Attached (I hope) is my first model. In the corner of one of the display windows is the outline of a human figure. I have deleted him any number of times, and he keeps coming back. How do I kill him for good?Evangelines Model 11.skp

Sketchup 7.1
I am using Sketchup 7.1 because of the dxf import cpability. Downloaded it from a link that was posted on this site. Now I'm getting messages saying "Only X minutes remaining." Do I have to register/pay for this program, or is there a way to get it permanently for free? Thx.

RE: Orbit setup
Chris, Thanks for your reply. No, this doesn't seem to be an axis problem. It appears to be an "interpretation of mouse input" problem. No matter what the orientation of the axes, up/down mouse motion produces pitch, and left/right mouse motion produces roll instead of yaw. As a result, it is almost impossible to achieve certain viewing angles. Very annoying. As a human being, I like to do my work in an upright position, not lying on my side. Any thoughts?

Orbit setup
Hi! Newbie question here.
When orbiting, I sometimes get pitch and roll instead of pitch and yaw. Very annoying. Seems to happen when I import a .dxf file. Is there a fix?

Newbie questions
Greetings! Just decided to make a serious effort to extend my 2D skills to 3D. This forum looked like a good place to start.
A few random questions:
-
I have a ton of .dwg and .dxf files (from 15 years of using TurboCAD), but can't import them into SU 8 without springing for the Pro license. I understand that there is a plugin for SU 7.1 that supports this feature. Where can I get SU 7.1 and the plugin?
-
Depending on camera angle, I sometimes have trouble getting SU to draw a circle in the plane I want. Is there a way to specify the plane?
-
After using push/pull to punch a hole through a solid, I sometimes get a face with a funny, shiny surface that doesn't behave properly when using push/pull again. What am I doing wrong? Can this be cured?
Looking forward to your replies. Thanks. J
