      Hi Guys,

      Just a quick one.

Does this still work for Skecthup 2016? I have re-named the zip folder extension to ".rbz" hoping this would install it correctly. I says it did install but i cant seem to see it anywhere in the menus? Any help would be very much appreciated.

just put this file in your plugins folder

Thank you very much, worked perfectly!

Does anyone know of a script that can print all material names to the console?

      Many thanks in advance.

    • [REQ] layer attribute from geometry to group

I believe there was recently a post asking for the reverse of this. I have received a model which has all layer attributes assigned to the actual geometry (faces/edges). When i try and export this to an external program it does not pick up the layer information as the top most groups are all showing Layer 0.

What i need is a script that recursively goes through all geometry and assigns the same layer attributes to the parent group(s) or components.

Does anyone know of such a script or if it is not too difficult have a quick play and see what is achievable?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

    • RE: [Plugin]Hole on Solid tool v1.6.3 upadate Jan 09, 2012

      First of all great plugin!

I was wondering if would be possible to first select your solid as currently, but then select a group of many faces and it create a whole for all in one go or is it limited to only a single face at a time?

      Keep up the good work!

    • RE: [Plugin] Shell

Is it possible to shell but keep the return from the original geometry. I have tried with JPP too but seems to fall down when you try it with and opening with single extruded returns.

      Many thanks

    • Flipping texture to opposite face.

I'm sure a while back I saw a plugin that could flip a texture map from the back face to the front. I have a model that has been textured up on the back faces so need to flip them. I would normally search until i found the answer but am so pushed to complete a deadline!

Any help would be so appreciated.

    • RE: [Plugin] Compo Spray 1.4.2 Updated

Not sure if i'm having much luck with 1.4 version either. I'm using Sketchup Pro 6. The old 1.3 version worked great.

Everytime I go to run the script, I select my component to spray, selected faces to spray onto. Other options left alone.

I get a dialoge box saying "1000 trials to drop components done. Continue?". At this point it shows 1% complete on the taskbar, I click continue and get a dailoge "more than 2 minutes remaining to complete. Continue?" as soon as I click I get "more than 4 minutes remaining to complete. Continue?" and so on.... never actually creating any copies, just doubling the time with each click?

    • "make faces" plugin in Sketchup7+

      Hi guys,

Since moving over to Sketchup 7 I have noticed "make faces" plugin doesn't seem to work as before. It only fills half the faces it should. No problem with geometry. This is with skecthup drawn rectangles with the face deleted first, so they should all definatley fill.

Has anyone else experienced the same, any fixes?

      Many thanks,
      Jaimie

    • RE: Save selected plugin?

      thanks thom,

I thought opening another session it would not reconise what it was copying. Also save component way as you suggest works well, I thought there may have been a option to save selected but saving as a component first is hardly going out your way.

      Many thanks.

    • Save selected plugin?

      Hi guys,

Just wondered if there is a "save selected" plugin about? I used to work on a mac where you could have multiple sketchup files open and copy and paste in place. It seems on a PC this is not possible?

I have a large model with many buildings which I want to work on individually in serate scenes to speed things up.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    • RE: Groups to components plugin ploblem

      Hi Thom,

Thanks for having a look into this. One issue i've found (same with the processed version you have attached). When I run "group copies to components" and try to extrude they seem to have opposite axis's, therefore extrude in different directions (forwards and backwards). Not sure if you are aware of this

    • RE: Groups to components plugin ploblem

We often get models with "copies" of glass, as opposed to instances, which can be quite annoying should any modifying need taking place.
Also if you get collased geometry from external programs, which I wanted to explode, run "group loose geometry" and then copy "groups to components". If sure there are lots of other intersting uses for this.

Dont have an actual working example to hand but attached is a VERY simple model of a few pane's of glass. Lower level higher than above glass pane's. This would therefor group and convert 2 seperate compenents in total.

    • RE: Groups to components plugin ploblem

      Hi Thom,

It was your "copies to components" plugin. Sorry I thought it was looking for groups with the same name and the same geometry.

Didn't realise it was only for objects from the same group copy.

Such a plugin would be very handy, I look forward to future developements in your new plugin...

      Many thanks,

    • Groups to components plugin ploblem

      Two bits to this....

I have noticed when using Chris fullmers "loose geometry to groups tool" (very handy). I then try and run the "copies to components" on this, but it doesn't seem to even recognise these objects as "the same" and therefor unable to run the "copies to components" on these objects.

Both plugins are fantastic! Would be great if they could be used as described above, one after another

      Hope this makes sense.

    • RE: [Request] Select vertical lines only

Thank you Pilou for sorting that out. I must be saving them out in an incorrect way. Sorry but by what means do you save yours, hopefully if I get it right I wont have to ask for help so often. Also thanks a lot to TIG for the code, another great job thanks a lot, works perfectly!

Edit: just read TIG comment about plain text format, i'll look into that. Thanks again..
