    • [Request] Select vertical lines only

      Hi Guys,

I searched the forum and cant seem to find what I'm after. Just wondered if anyone was aware of a Plugin that allowed you to select lines by angle or just vertical only in this case.
I am want to extrude some lines but small left over vertical lines are stopping this happening, so have to manually delete hundreds.

      Picture 1.jpg

The lines I'm extruding are not on the same z plane so it's not as easy as going into an elevation view and cross hair selecting an vertical lines.

      Many thanks...

    • [REQ] Flatten lines Plugin

      Hi guys,

Just wondered if there was a Plugin that when you select lines it flattens them all in the Z axis. Basically the same as selecting the lines running the drape tool onto a plane and deleting the old splines. an option at what height in world space to place the new flattened lines and an option to fill the lines (make faces) would also be fantastic.

      Many thanks in advance.

    • RE: Plugin Request

      Hi Rick,

You hit the nail on the head. Don't always use the same thickness especially for a roof top. Currently I use the the line tool with inference locking but this can be quite annoying after a while and if you have have a shape that kicks back and forth many times then lots of construction lines are needed on the corner sections to work out theses distances. (The image I gave at the top was in it's simplest form, this is obviously extremely simple). You have to try it this way to understand how helpful such a tool would be.

      Picture 27.png

If you try any example like this with inference locking it's VERY easy but also VERY time consuming for something that maybe a Plugin could calculate in a few seconds.

This is a problem a bit like many SU Plugins address i.e "Make group" plugin. In native SU, I can select geometry, make it a group, open the outliner, click on geometry, right click and re-name. All very possible, but with this plugin I can can give it a shortcut key and name it on the fly which makes my workflow so much easier and thats why this and many other such Plugins are great workflow aides.

    • Plugin Request

      Hi guys,

I was wondering if there was a Plugin available as shown below. I often have to make spines in this way (manually) to perform copying of objects along a spline, could also be handy for midpoints along a top of a building for more complex roof forms. In essence it's very simple, but not sure how simple it would be to write.

      Plugin idea.jpg

The first image shows a polygon,
      Second, selecting polygon,
Third, then "The script" would be run and works out the mid continuos midpoint,
Fourth, option to delete original face.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    • RE: Components to layers?

Sorry TIG for my extremely long delay. Very busy and completely forgot about the post.

In it's most basic form, say I want to change the layers for all the default SU components. I would like all the people (2D silhouette, 2D Colour and 3D) to be put onto a "People Layer". All the Trees (including subfolders again) to be put onto a tree layer.

Then when I want to use these in new scenes they are already on the correct layer and not having to search the whole scene later and individually put them onto the required layer. I could and have gone through many default components and changed them but wanted to know if this could be automated. Each file is one model.

    • RE: [Plugin] SmartPushPull v0.26 (05 nov)

Great tool. Just one idea maybe, when you select the face you want to extrude, you get the option of deleting the original lines to clean it up. Would be a nice addition. but still a great plugin nether the less.

    • Components to layers?

Is there a way to put many models into layer without opening each file individually opening each file and manually typing the layer name?
Sure I saw something on this a while ago but cant find anything through the search option or trawling pages of old requests and plugins.

      Many thanks in advance.

    • RE: Plugin request

Tried the Ghost Comp Plugin, but it seems to giving a very simplified object in-place. Below images showing the kind of thing I mean.

Model before. Made up of different size groups.
      Block before.jpg

Model After. Model left made up of a single light weight skin with no intersecting lines or internal structure. (image bodged in Photoshop to give idea)
      Block after.jpg

      Many thanks again

    • Plugin request

Is there such a Plugin that will create a shell of a more detailed building. Say I have a building made up of door/window openings, lift overuns etc and I just want a single skin of the whole structure, Is there currently a Plugin for this job?

      Many thanks in advance

My mistake it was 'Combine Textures' function I was thinking of. Haven't upgraded to 7 yet.

Nice tip about the unfold plugin prior to use though.

    • Searching for Plugin.

Sorry to be a pain but I am looking for a Plugin that enables you to flatten geometry into a single co-planar polygon and at the same time creates a single texture map from the the flattened Geometry. Think Chris Fullmer may have created it a while back. Used the search function but cant seem to find it anywhere?

      Many thanks...

      Great Plugin btw,
Just wondered if there are any developments of a version that takes into account a sloped surface instead of a flat plane?

    • Purging 2 materials with the same material?

      Hi guys,

Just wondering how I purge 2 exact materials with the same properties and material name into 1. I was using 2 slightly different glass materials ans have managed to give the properties but now what to merge the 2 exact materials into 1 for a neater materials palette. These materials are nested in various components so not as simple as selecting by material.

Using a MacPro Sketchup 6 Pro.

      Many thanks in advance.
