I guess it's like when you go fishing - sometimes you get a fish, other times you're just out there, enjoying nature. This one is no catch . . . someone should write a ruby script that allows you to pick an icon that looks like a demolition switch - when selected, you see your model destroyed while hearing the sound of broken glass . . . I'd use that option for this model if it was available . . . (ha) . . .

      Happy Sketching,

      Thank you Remus.

In my opinion, a good, complete design involves being able to see the car from any angle while still maintaining visual interest. At best, I usually only get halfway there . . . okay, maybe only 25% . . . but, I'm all about having fun, which is why I continue . . .

The guys at GM should remove their blindfolds before approving a design. What were they thinking? Didn't finish rehab?

. . . one could call this a "chiseling" technique (quite different from the way geometry is defined and edited using the video tutorials I posted a couple months ago) . . . this technique is very fast and easily provides extreme "what if" exploration of shapes, proportions, blah, blah, blah . . .

David, your stuff is what I'd consider "far & above" simply doodling - great sketches - thanks for sharing them - inspiring.

And one photoshopped intruder on the far right?
We use Paint Shop Pro, not photoshop but yes, he was living in Japan at the time and was cut-n-pasted into the photo.

Last year we had the oldest son cut-n-pasted into the photo because he's in Thailand. I didn't do the editing on that one either - it was worse than the '06 photo, plus, for some reason, the older the photo, the more hair I have. Life is full of mysteries.

    • Anyone Doodle?

      Hello,

I have created literally thousands and thousands of these "doodles" over the years. It's something I do to pass time and I find this type of doodling very relaxing. A few years ago I tossed out all my doodles but I've been keeping them again and now I have several boxes full of books full of pages of doodles. I guess you could say I'm a doodler.

I used to doodle with permanent markers on people at the beach or at bars (women only) - that was fun, though not extremely profitable (at best, a fuzzy phase of my distant past).

Anyone else doodle - if so, please post your doodles.

      Happy doodling,

      Brad

Thanks remus - I love that Lamborghini - is it art or car? Who cares, gorgeous, eh?

These three images show how I'm playing around with some quick shapes on front & so forth . . . originally, I wanted to tie the front and rear together with a similar, "rough chisel" theme . . . didn't work out very well but I enjoyed the attempt . . . on to the next one . . .

      Happy Sketching,

    • RE: Hand drawn art.

Any Industrial Designer worth their weight in salt who's ever worked on developing lots of ideas really fast will tell you there is nothing that will ever replace hand-generated sketching. Period.

Hand-generated sketching is vital to virtually all engineering drawing and design related careers. Generally, drawings are used to capture and develop ideas. Often, if not usually, drawings used in professional practice begin with a sketch - production drawings, development drawings, working out problems, blah, blah, blah.
