1001bit version 1.1.7 update is now ready for download!
      http://www.1001bit.com/v1.1/download_registration_v1.1.shtml

3 new tools are added into this update:

Rectangular grille tools: convert edges into rectangular sections.

      http://www.1001bit.com/forum_imgs/rgrille2.jpg

Circular grille tools: convert edges into circular sections.

      http://www.1001bit.com/forum_imgs/cgrille1.jpg

      http://www.1001bit.com/forum_imgs/cgrille2.jpg

both the grille tools only create grilles on a common plane defined by the first 3 points it finds from the selection.
any edges that are not on the plane will be projected onto the plane.

      Extrude while maintaining tapering effect.

    • RE: Naming components in a way they can be found by a ruby

      hi everyone,
I think it's only logical that we aim for doing quantity takeoffs directly from Sketchup someday.
The problem is, there is no standard in naming or assigning attributes. Basically, everyone does what he/she think is best.
without a certain standard/convention, it'll be impossible for anyone to write a universal tool to capture all components and groups created by different people.
It'll be great if we can start discussion on the direction of doing this, and if we can establish a certain convention in the end that everyone agrees, it'll a big step in moving towards a quantity takeoff tool that can capture entities that follows this convention.
I think Sketchucation's forum is a great place to start. πŸ‘

Thanks Pilou, for putting the notification here. I was having problem logging in with Firefox; finally got in with IE. πŸ˜•
And you're right about the 'crazzy' tool πŸ˜†
I haven't been able to figure out what can you use this 'scaling' function for; but seems like good fun anyway πŸ˜„

Other improvements in version 1.1.6 includes:

      1. sorted out a bug in thepanel dividertool. Please see details in windows and doors topic.

      2. sorted out a bug in the hip rooftool. You can now generate hip roof directly from extruded top surface.

      3. Improvement on setting up: no longer need to define path; as long as the 1001bit folder is located within Sketchup's plugins folder; it'll be fine.
You can still choose to define custom location for your 1001bit folder. Just keep your original path file (eg. 1001bit_path_win_su7.rb) or create a new path file
1001bit_path.rb file with a text editor and have the following line in the file

      $GH1001bit_path="/your custom path/1001bit"

place the file inside Sketchup's plugins folder. note the name of the file is not important, as long as it has a .rb extension and it get run when SU loads.

I have not included the language folder in the standard zip file so that it will not overwrite the translated language file that you currently have.
However, the images are included. For those who are using language packs with translated images, you'll have to reload the images from the language pack again, after setting up v1.1.6

For details on necessary changes in language pack translations, please refer

Thanks for everyone's support and have fun with 1001bit tools! πŸ˜„ πŸ˜„ πŸ˜„

      hi Pilou,
Thanks so much for your efforts!

      1. Tooltip text: Seems like there is a maximum of 79 characters in the tooltip. I couldn't get it to do more, and couldn't get it to do multi lines of text.
Has anyone come across a tooltip with multi lines of text?

      2. The Escalator title: tracked down the problem. It's that little Apostrophe (')
        title>>Create Escalator>>CrΓ©ation d'Escalator
when Javascript sees a apostrophe('), it interprets as the beginning of another string and caused an error.
The translator defaults back to English when there's an error getting the translation.
Adding a back slash in front of it will get it to be interpreted correctly.

      title>>Create Escalator>>CrΓ©ation d'Escalator
      escalator title translated correctly with

    • RE: [Plugin] 1001bit Tools - Architectural tools for SketchUp

      hi guys,

I have modified the 1001bit_tools.rb to automatically look for the files in SU's Plugins/1001bit folder regardless of Windows or Mac.
if it cannot find the files, it then search for c:\1001bit.com

So, the setting up can be simplified to
Step 1: put the 1001bit folder in SU's Plugins folder
Step 2: copy the 1001bit_tools.rb file into the Plugins folder

Appreciate if you guys can test this for me:
Attached zip file contains 2 files,
      1001bitmenu.rbs file
      1001bit_tools.rb

      1. Please overwrite the 1001bitmenu.rbs file (must be version 1.1.5)
      2. remove the 1001bit_tools.rbs file , and use the 1001bit_tools.rb in your Plugins folder instead.
      3. remove any file that indicates the path, like 1001bit_path_.....rb

In this case, the 1001bit folder must be in your Plugins folder.

      Thanks and appreciate all feedbacks

      Hi everyone,
1001bit tools is now possible for different languages! πŸ˜„
A new language pack function is added into version 1.1.5, which allows for automatic translation of the dialog boxes, status bar, tooltips and error messages into your local languages.

      http://www.1001bit.com/language_pack/v1.1/images/dialog-cn.jpg

      http://www.1001bit.com/language_pack/v1.1/images/dialog-jp.jpg

hip roof dialog in Japanese - courtesy of Takeshi

      Here's how it works
In version 1.1.5, there's an additional language folder inside the 1001bit folder.

      http://www.1001bit.com/language_pack/v1.1/images/language_folder.jpg

inside the language folder, there's a collection of text files (.txt) which contains the language translation.

      http://www.1001bit.com/language_pack/v1.1/images/sample_cn.gif

      translation courtesy of purplewind

The format of the translation is
      id>>english>>translation
Just use a text editor to edit the .txt file and save it.
You may need to try saving the file in different format, for example, the Chinese version has to be saved in UTF-8 format for it to work properly on a Mac (English).

The first full translation into Chinese Simplified language has been completed and tested by purplewind of club.sketchupbar.com
      http://www.1001bit.com/discussions/viewforum.php?f=17
Special thanks to Purplewind for his hardwork!

by the way, the 1001bit_tools.rbs file in the Plugins folder needs to be replaced with the latest. Otherwise you'll see a lot of errors!

      hi Jeff, Takeshi,
I've included a toolbar manager function in the latest update (version 1.1.4)of 1001bit tools.

You can use it to manage what to show and hide. You'll need to restart SU once for the settings to take effect, after that it remains persistent for future sessions.

      hi guys,
I've just worked out a solution to the icons/toolbar issue:
(included in version 1.1.4)-- ready for download.

i.e. a Toolbar manager that allows user to pick on what to show and hide.
User can also choose between putting the icons in single toolbar or separate toolbars.
      manage toolbar function
      manage toolbar dialog

You'll need to restart SU (once) for new setting to take effect. After that it'll remain persistent.

In addition to that, I've also added a hip roof creator.
      hip roof tool

Some complex profiles(particularly those that ends with curves) cannot be fully, automatically solved.
in this case, the tool will do 'as much as it can'.

Please try them out, cheers! πŸ˜„

Thanks guys, for the ideas. i'll definitely look into this. Need to explore different options.
Thought of using the webdialog with a series of checkboxes to show and hide different group of icons, however, i'm having a hard time arranging different group of toolbar nicely in SU. They just keep pushing each other around.
Not sure is this a SU problem or simply i haven't master this part yet.
I'll experiment with both approach and see where they lead to. β˜€
