    • RE: Texture looks darker and more saturated

When I explode components, and reverse their faces, the interior face supposedly is the default material but it shows black and I know it is related to the color problem. Only when I turned every face to default and applied a new material, it rendered correctly. But I can't do this for every component. I tried to apply the Vray Glass Cristal material to a wine glass component and I had the same problem.

After playing a bit with the cushion from the image attached, and deleting one of its faces, I saw it was still appearing in the render. Even after I deleted the whole cushion, it still appeared in the render! I purged the file and this stopped, but the problem with the color continued. I'm not sure if it's related, but I think it is.

      Help!

Meanwhile I think I'll reinstall sketchup

Hi, I've been having the same problem on different files. When I render, I notice that some wood textures come out darker and more saturated than what I'm expecting. The material shown on the Vray asset editor matches the material I see when working on sketchup, but doesn't match the render output. I know it's just colors, but I haven't notice it on other materials. On the image I attach you can see both the floor and the table showing this problem.
      I'd appreciate any help, thx!

      Hi,

      • do you maybe have added some layers on your vray mat, like a reflective coat?
      • Maybe you could share vrmat or just the setup of your material?

It's a simple .jpg file with no added layers. Vrmat files can't be attached. I'm attaching the screen capture of the material.

    • SKETCHUP VRAY Mirror bouncing light

Hi, I was modeling an interior scene and I have a lamp that should throw indirect illumination. The light is supposed to bounce from a curved surface (standard material) and illuminate the space behind the light source.

I tried using a hidden rectangle light pointing the surface it's supposed to bounce from, but I had to increase the intensity too much, generating other problems and not illuminating the space enough. I think the only solution is to use a bigger rectangle light that, due to its size, surpasses the space where the real hidden light would be, and make it double sided so it illuminates both the surface it's supposed to bounce from, and the space it's supposed to light. But probably the result won't be very good resembling reality. Would this be the best approach?

Anyway, this got me thinking on how to make light bounce from a mirror. I haven't found any information on this. If you point at a mirror with a spotlight, it will simply swallow the light. I guess this is related to my original problem, but, does anyone have any info on this?

      Thanks in advance!

    • RE: Proxy doesn't show on render

Thanks Andy, I tried your suggestion, but I couldn't get it to work. On a similar case, a proxy tree was showing up ok in the render, but a couple of days later, when I reopened the file, it stopped showing up. The textures associated to the proxy were fine. My only solution was importing the original tree model again and creating the proxy again, inside the larger file. This time it did show up.

    • Proxy doesn't show on render

Hi, I was modelling my project, and test renders were coming out fine, not taking too long. I added some grass proxies from another project (copy/paste) on a small area and made some more copies of those proxies in that same small area. The test render came out ok as well, pretty fast. So I proceeded to make more copies of the proxies and cover a greater area and that's when I had the problem when rendering; the proxies stopped showing up in the render. I have deleted many copies, trying to have the same initial area covered with proxies, but nothing happens. On the v-ray progress window I found a line that says "Could not load mesh file "C:/Users/...Grass.vrmesh" (address apparently from the computer where the proxy was originally made). But why would it load the first time and not now? Any suggestions on what to do? The file weighs 127 mb, but the render is pretty fast.

Oh and something +/- similar happened with a car proxy I copy-pasted some hours before. I didn't make any copies of that car, but it simply didn't show on the render from the start.

    • RE: HDRI Light splotches problem

      @valerostudio said:

Do not use an HDRI in your GI or BG. In 2.0 you have to create a dome light. This will fix the problem.

Thanks, I hadn't seen that video. I think in it, they forget to mention to turn off/delete the HDRI in the GI and BG, but it is as you say. Problem solved 👍

    • HDRI Light splotches problem

Hi everyone, I thought I was already getting a handle on HDRIs, but when I found the right one for my scene, I got these light splotches. When rotating the HDRI (both in GI and BG) the splotches move. I was wondering if it's necessary to make a blurred copy of the original HDRI and use it for the GI. Or is there any other easier solution? Thx!
