RE: Sooo slow when copy-pasting or importing large models
Just to rule this out - why don't you update your graphics driver.
I had a very similar problem - creating first component as a copy and paste or simply creating a component from scratch. The bigger the model the longer it took. I updated my NVidia drivers and the problem disappeared.

RE: [Plugin] GKWare Cabinet Maker
New work includes another way to handle corner cabinets. This separate box idea has many advantages including:
- Better use of materials
- Easier to handle in the shop
- Easier to transport to work site
- Easier to navigate boxes around corners and up stairs.

RE: 3D Truss Models
I created my own translator.
Language implementation is not trivial as there are a lot of considerations. Since I translate the plugins Sketchup menu entries etc. the first thing I do is read my configuration file to see which language file to load. Then I load the appropriate file or en.lang if file not found.
One big consideration is the amount of real estate that each language requires. For instance French requires about 1/3 more real estate than does English. On the other hand Chinese requires a lot less. So I built my html dialogs to automatically size themselves based on loaded language.
I provide an untranslated English file which can be renamed and populated to any new language. Some users undertake the task of translation and share the file. I then include these files in future releases.
Using one of the many google translators does not do a very good job of translation. It is always best to have a bilingual user that understands the plugin to help out.

RE: 3D Truss Models
another guess is the nailing pattern that has the greater surface area. Ok - lets go 20% and this is because I would use an adhesive with plywood gussets.

RE: HTMLDialog vs WebDialog?
Thanks guys - I haven't had time to look into this yet. But what I see looks encouraging.

- Modified reports slightly to include Hanger information. Please edit existing cabinets to put into effect.
- You now have independent settings for Fixed Shelves, Adjustable Shelves and Pullouts for Top Section of Tall Cabinets.
- You now have pullout option for sink cabinets.
- You now have drawers in sink cabinet. Works well for cooktops.
- Fixed position of top hanger for base cabinets where the top is Front Stretcher.

RE: Extension Signing
My CabMaker rbz is quite large, just over 20 megabytes. I often get a Browser time out - however if I wait a bit and then reopen the portal the message that I can download the extension is there. I then check the rbz for rbe files and rb files. If only the 1 rb file and lots of rbe then I am satisfied. Finally I install the plugin and test it out.
The reason for the large size is the manual is almost 8 megs (180 pages with lots of images)
Also my context sensitive help folder has 360 png files and is now over 6 megs.I use a batch file that backs up my rb files into the proper version numbered folder and creates the rbz package for the portal. The batch file also moves my testing configuration out of the plugin and moves it back after the package is complete.
I also simplify things by using a public area for my plugins. This area is accessible by all versions of Sketchup from SU 7 all the way to SU 2017.
require 'sketchup.rb'
require_all('c:/users/public/documents/sketchup') -
RE: HTMLDialog vs WebDialog?
John
I use JQuery - not JsFiddle.
With Windows I can color the background of Input Text and Select - just not check boxes.
Also the Enter key doesn't trap while you are inside a drop down list. Here IE allows me to color background of check boxes.
And here is chrome - notice the check boxes background is transparent. Also I moved the form while the drop down list is open and now you can't tell which drop down I was in. The difference is IE closes the drop down when you click and drag the form - chrome does not.

RE: Extension Signing
The military term that you are suggesting is quite apt.
It was actually coined as Fubar and means
f** up beyond all recognition.Another good one is Snafu
Systems Normal All f** upHowever if you don't use their portal then you don't have access to their newer encryption.

RE: Extension Signing
We are all in the same boat. Nothing we can do.
I also can't release a new version. Good thing I'm a bit paranoid and always check the package.

RE: HTMLDialog vs WebDialog?
I use the same strategy to move data back and forth between Ruby and the Dialog.
For SU 2017 users I have a configuration where you can use HTMLDialog or WebDialog. This configuration is ignored for older Sketchup versions.
I personally like the older IE style WebDialog. I trap the Enter key so you can use it instead of clicking OK. With the chrome version the enter key doesn't get trapped when a drop down list is opened. Also the position of the drop down list in Chrome is out immediately after moving the HTMLdialog form. Lastly I like to color the background of a checkbox for a little quicker visual and this does not work in Chrome.
At some point Trimble will drop the WebDialog in favor of just supporting Chrome.

RE: PC mouse and keyboard replacement.
I'm still using a Microsoft Natural Keyboard Pro which must be close to 20 years old. The raised feet broke so I use a 3/4" X 1" X 16" piece of plywood to prop it up. All the keys work fine. I went with it after I developed Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. I haven't had a problem since.
When my 3 year old logitech mouse gave up I went to a 3DConnexion Cad Mouse and I love it. I was one of the lucky ones who one a 3DConnsiion Space Mouse Pro Wireless and I use it as well.
