    • RE: Modeling ocean wave

      hmmmmm....it is possible

..i have had a quick shot at it....10 minutes in SketchUp and 20 minutes in Twilight...this is quite raw but it shows that it might be achievable with a bit more time and thought

..i've used a simple profile for the wave, but in reality it should taper...it should be able to be done quite simply

..the wave would also need some 'froth'....perhaps that is something you could add in post pro

..anyhow, here is my quick and easy attempt....i think has some possibilities with a bit more time spent on it

Funny what happens when I'm just goofing around. I probably couldn't have done this if I was trying to draw it.

      aint that so true..??

i was messing around with 'Shape Bender' a few months ago.....bent something, took the bent shape back to the reference point and rotated it and bent it again.....then i kept repeating it, each time taking it back to the reference point and rotating the newly bent shape and bending it.....

....i did it about 10 times and ended up with something quite remarkable.....totally useless, but remarkable...!! πŸ˜†

I posted this recently in the Twilight Forum

...it was largely an experiment with water and some new Twilight render pre-sets

....on day, i'll get around to modelling a proper building to finish it off...!!

perhaps try using the 2 point perspective

...sometimes i quite like the convergence, but in this case it distorts things too much in my opinion.....unless of course you particularly like it that way

...i look forward to seeing this one develop with some additional details, lights, maybe some external landscaping and adjustments to the size of the wall texture

As an ex-pat Australian I thought I should point out for the foreigners hereabouts that a Dunny could be referring to a great piece of quality Australian architecture.

Many a student has been shattered by the intricacies of designing one.

Few get it right, but those that do go on to greatness.

LOL Ben....!!....that is a fine example of an Aussie dunny....i have no idea what the others are trying to do, other than to blaspheme our precious amenity

      thanks for the Tutorial...

...i am trying it out.....but have a question or two...

      1. When you say Subdivide, do you mean Divide, as in Edge Divide...??....or is there something else i should be aware of..??

      2. Do you Group the column at some point along the way...??....if so at what step..??

      Thanks in advance,

If you are a Twilight Render user, you can download some skp files of some of the Xfrog trees

perhaps, for realism, some attention to a few model details like the valley gutters and the flashings

Edson.....they are indeed quite heavy files....i found that it is wise to have absolutely nothing else running while you import a .obj file....and don't even minimise your window while it is working....

.....just wander off for a little while, have a coffee or whatever and let it do its work...!

they are good value.....you don't need to water them or fertilise them.....

    • RE: House & Pond

      Hi Nacho,

      I used easy preset 05 Medium +......

...the render time was 69 minutes on my laptop which is only a 1.86 dual core.......you would get much better times with something with a bit more 'grunt'...!! (Solo would probably render it before he had time to lean back in his chair...!!)

...there are quite a lot of reflective surfaces and the model is busier than it may appear, so i am quite happy with the speed of the render

      ...resolution was 1230 x 600
