I would like to import a photo into SU, orientating and locating it according to the following geo data:

      https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/b7/33/ab/b733ab5a7b23d41add6feaf17d442d32.jpg

does anyone have any ruby that can help me do this? Im currently using http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=32289, to import latitude longitude coords from a CSV file. I still have to manually set up the "ImgDirection", enter the values into the spread sheet & import and align the photo accordingly

yes indeed thanks. they inform me they're "only selling licenses to Government users at a price of $30k per seat for a two year license." does any one have an older copy knocking about on their hard drive anywhere. All i need is to import a photo accurately located and orientated to the EXIF data - does any one have any lines of Ruby please?

I've read through the guide and was just wandering: Is it possible, to move the origin(red) about which the object scales from

so for instance in the above example, I want to move the origin to where the green cross hair is, so when scaled, it looks like this:

Which needs to conveniently snap to the size of the post components, retaining its proportions so that I have 3-D versions of all the different sized posts.

Any ideas how i can do this?

      Many thanks

p.s im building a sort of template to help automate these sorts of conversions from architects 2d to sketchup 3d and would be happy to share it

    • RE: Print Shortcuts found

this is indeed a great plugin. what is great, is you can command + F to search your lengthy list of shortcuts. I have an older versionprintkeys.rbas unfortunately this one did not work for me. however on mac it outputs in weird hieroglyphics, but in Firefox, if you pick View, Character Encoding, UTF-8, it will appear correctly. 😄

Hi Mac1, would skm files contain the geometry they are currently applied upon? That's what i need so:

oh, i forgot to mention, there's material maintenance:
      http://www.keepingmyhandin.com/Downhome/Sketchup/material_maintenance_2
which allows you to higlight material selections, but it's currently crashing on my big model

I managed to get most of the selection on a new layer, with the put on layer plugin(http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=12494#p89978😞

but then i can't isolate it, as its nested within layer 0.

ps: Dave r, I will deffo implement the comp advice for my next model

      and

Box, its good to know i'm not the only one who experiences it's unpredictable nature. However, seeing as it actually selects the material perfectly, but i cant transfer it via copy - paste in place, could this be the issue? Not only did it not paste the entire selection, but other materials & in strange places too. i.e some of the roof elements are now on the ground

      Hi Box

The plugin does select the material throughout the model even when nested. However, when i try to copy it, and then "paste in place" in a new SU file as Dave R suggested, it doesn't transfer the selection:

    • RE: Selecting all faces of a material throughout the model

Due to my old messy SU ways, the windows are unfortunately not comps'. Changing the material wouldn't help, because it's their faces which i need, not the material.

I shall indeed complete my profile

Hi Dave R, unfortunately there not all in the same context. Infact, the material is within many nested layers, groups & comps'.

Any other ideas? I guess exploding it all, so that it is the same context first, might help.

      Thanks

    • Selecting all faces of a material throughout the model

      Hi,

I have a large SU model of a mixed use multistory building, which i now have the task of rendering. The rendering engine i use requires me to place light portals on all glazed areas.

I would like to save all glazed areas as a separate SU file, so that I can add light portals more easily & quickly. Then import back into the original file.

How can i isolate the glazed faces?

      Thanks
