Most guys, even with a bad back, don't mind bending to inspect a cameltoe though

Thanks Cyberdactil, I guess in that case it is indeed a ballasted membrane.
Gonna study this info from you, as my clientbase is expanding to include more international clients it's a good thing to know the english words
Joke's suggestion's good, hard to beat rendered grass.
When it comes to postpro, try this:
Does that help?

How did that lady get there?
The (future) roof-terrace belongs to the neighbours
@Matteo; haven't read any books by Dan Simmons, but it sounds intriguing
Thanks for your comment on the images. Conveying the general idea of the structure was exactly what we set out to do, and judging by your response we succeeded
I hope you don't mind me being too honest.
The alterations you describe (contrast, posterise, saturation) are exactly the things that scream at me when I look at your images. The 'color halftone' and lensflare don't really do it for me either.
I don't know what it is, but I just get a rrrggggH feel when looking at them.
Could you post the original (or more subtly altered) renders just for fun?
Viewpoints are a great choice btw!
Wew, thought this topic was gonna die quietly

The texture inside the upper window suggests there's a brick wall inside?
Also, the roof looks like a ballasted membrane, is that correct?
That 'texture' is actually a reflection of the building (out of frame) behind camera-left. Noticed that modelling the surroundings really helped make the Polycarbonate come to life so that's what I did. Reflections suck though, your remark proves that . Should've just taken pictures of the surrounding buildings and mapped them to simple boxes. Lesson learned. About the roof; I have no clue what a ballasted membrane is (I studied architecture in Dutch and never finished it), but client didn't give me accurate specs on roof so I came up with this.
Thanks for your comments on integration, though that was the easiest part

a cheeky night render
I know I know! I tried to ease my client into that, but no luck Would look cool, and I'm probably gonna have a little gap in jobs in about 3 weeks. I'm definitely gonna give it a go then! Not photoshopping the image though, close enough to just take a nighttime picture
And a P.S. of course: Sad thing is that in terms of realism I like the second one (view from below) the best, while it represents just 1/6th of the time
Music signature: great song by Rox
I think the NPR model with PR veggies looks really nice in this image. Wonder if a PR sky would overdo it... Agree on the background trees, there's better alternatives for that.
All in all, pretty great image.
Sounds like a cool project, can't wait to see a rough...
btw, I vote 'word-picture is a bit blurry' for the euphemystic metaphor of the month-award
Thanks Rich, that's a good idea! I'm gonna give it a go.
If anyone else has good suggetions, please let me know
Sent you a PM!
EDIT: Sorry, just realised that wasn't very nice to any others looking for furniture. Some or most of you may already have these models though. Download here, as long as it's up.

self-intersecting surfaces if the radius was set too high
Hmmm yeah that's not really desirable...
I keep a small but always expanding 'best of the warehouse' folder on my external drive. Partly because I sometimes work in areas that have no internet, but also because I can save it with keywords that make sense to me. Eliminates the whole 'no time to search' problem
If you want, I can upload it and PM you a link. Just let me know if you're interested.
Hi all,
I was hoping one of the 'organic shapes gurus' could help me get started on modelling this:
Rest assured, I'm not looking for someone to do it for me, just could use a few pointers on how to get the initial shape right. I have most of the important rubies, just not Subdivide and Smooth. But I'm willing to buy that if it's needed
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Hi Martha,
sounds familiar. I too never know when it's time to stop
Render looks good, especially like the shadows on the blinds
Couch and chair could do with a little rounding of the edges though, they're pretty sharp now.
In case you're not familiar with it already, give this plugin a go. It's pretty great.
Agreed, no need to bring our personal hobbies into the discussion....
P.S. Don't do the shocked smiley Thomthom, you were there....
Hi James/Philip
It's certainly a nice set of stairs. I'm not sure what you'd like us to comment on though.
Would be better to see it more 'in context'.
Only thing I can say is that I feel the posts are extremely corny/nouveau riche/bad episode of MTV Cribs. The modelling of them is good though ( a close-up with wireframe would be nice) so kudos on that.
Kind regards
Thank you dear sir
One of those things where once you've faced the problem and solved it, you never forget. Much like getting rid of a dead hooker Shit, did I say that out loud?
