@firstliight said: I love using sketchup and lumion, lately I have ideas of shapes I want to try that I don't yet know how to create in sketchup, more organic type buildings like Zaha Hadid. I have been thinking of trying FormZ 8 to model with because its something like sketchup but with nurbs tools. Aaron, you don't need FormZ or any other more robust programs like Maya or Max because you can virtually build anything in SketchUp, including organic shapes like Zaha Hadid's architecture, by using plugins. Check out the Plugin forum (http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=323, as well as the Extension Warehouse and Extension Store (you have to install it) for all the Plugins available. Some are free and others cost a bit of money but it's all worth it. Some of my favorite are from TIG, Fredo6, Chris Fulllmer, thomthom, Whaat, just to name a few. If you want to do organic shapes, check out SUbD by Thomas Thomassen (http://evilsoftwareempire.com/subd. Best of luck! _KN

@bryan k said: Looks good! The renders turned out nicely. Thanks Bryan K I do appreciate it. I have so much to learn!!! I keep trying all kinds of shapes and styles. I am hoping to become good like architect and designer Guy Dreier, check him out. http://www.guydreierdesigns.com/ When I look at his work I know I am nowhere near closed to knowing what I need to know to become that good. Its a long road ahead for sure haha Thanks again.

@firstliight said: This is a home I designed for a client that is being constructed, my first to be constructed. Thank you, Yes there will be construction photos, the steel for the home comes next month. This is not my first home for a client, but its the first to reach this stage of construction. I am super excited! I owe a lot of my success to sketchucation.com because I learned a lot about sketchup from asking questions here on this site that got me notice by the developer I work for. Thanks

Hopefully it would be for as long as it took to finish rather than a flat fee. I hope so anyway.

@pbacot said: Quite a job! I think I like it better than your other homes, though it has sort of an office building massing. Great work on the video. What software? As far as the video goes, the only thing that is sort of distracting for me is the polished concrete that reflects every light fixture perfectly but nothing else. Thanks pbacot I agree way to much reflection on the concreat, haha I did not know how to tweak the setting at that time its a old video. I have been trying a few new styles, even though the curvy roofs are what I like most I like to venture out and try new styles out side my comfort zone. I also posted a three level curvy roof building that's a design study I'm currently working on. This video was made using lumion 5. All my current houses are rendered using Lumion 6 Its not the best in terms of realism but I can do more with it than with all the other renderers quickly. This is my newest video rendered with lumion 6 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIwUMGaVY9M

@cuttingedge said: The design of the house is awesome. I agree, The plants and rocks would be better in more random placement and size. Otherwise good. Just a thought. Is the fire tapped directly from the desert for fuel? I am not sure about the fire, i work for a custom home developer in palm springs I will ask about it and get back to you

@ntxdave said: Very interesting video. Several things caught my eye that I wish I could achieve (yes, I have played with the trial version of Lumion and know some of those things are added via Lumion). The building itself is really nice. I really enjoy the animation of the water. The texture of some of things like the rocks. I really like the setting for the building/campus. Being able to place it in a city setting like that is really nice. I would like to do that..... Thank you ntxdave, the city behind my building I found on the 3D Warehouse, just search there for ( Cleveland Rocks ) that's the name of the person who created it, then I just use the parts I wanted and placed them on each side. There are other cities on the 3d warehouse also
