    • FREE access to Sketchup Visual Mastery course!

      Hi everyone,

I'm Nizar. I'm happy to announce that I just published a Sketchup online course, laser-focused on showcasing 3D projects in their best form. The course is designed to captivate the viewers of your projects AND to boost your creativity using Sketchup's full potential.

And as early birds, you can get access to it for **FREE **by following this link and using the coupon code "EARLY_BIRD": https://www.udemy.com/show-your-design-in-its-best-form-using-sketchup/?couponCode=EARLY_BIRD
The number of coupons is limited, so first come first served 😉
Check out the intro video to know more about the content.

It's a complete 3+ hours course (sliced in +/- 5 min videos) that goes beyond the technical capacity of this amazing software. In fact, as an architect-photographer, I share the essence of my photographic learning and combine it with a 10-year experience designing with Sketchup.

I honestly haven't seen any complete and comprehensive resource on the internet that addresses the visual aspect of a Sketchup model (without the use of rendering softwares) with this much focus, so I thought it would be a good idea to create this course, mainly for architects and interior designers.
If you're using a rendering software, such as Vray, you would still definitely benefit from it as the it's geared to improve your scene in many ways. The learning material includes:

      • Mastering texturing and getting creative in the process

      • Choosing the best angle of view according to photographic notions

      • Choosing the best lighting for specific scenes

      • Creating believable models by using components in very specific ways

      • Creating a personalized visual style that fits your intentions

      • And much more

By the way, the course is also available on the learning platform Skillshare: https://skl.sh/2wXnHjZ

If you enroll, I'd really love to get some feedback and know which parts you liked the most and if there are subjects you wished were deepened more.

      Have a fantastic day!

      Nizar

    • How to choose the best time of day and year

      Hi guys,

I'm Nizar, an architect and passionate photographer, and I'd like to share with you my approach on how to choose the optimum lighting for a scene.
It's precisely the type of things that architectural photographers always keep in mind before heading for an architectural project shooting.

(This is a sample of my Show your design in its best form using Sketchup course, from texturing mastery to the secrets of a captivating view: https://www.udemy.com/show-your-design-in-its-best-form-using-sketchup)

    • New full course bringing out the best out of a scene

      **Hi guys,

I’m Nizar. I’m an architect-photographer and I’ve been using Sketchup for 10+ years. I noticed there is a ton of resources for learning the basics of Sketchup, plus many interesting but scattered tutorials/tips/tricks about various subjects.

So I thought of putting up a complete and comprehensive Sketchup video course specifically focusing on the visual aspect of any model (architecture-oriented), and sticking only with what's possible to achieve inside of Sketchup without getting out to a third party editing or rendering software.

It would be divided into 3 main chapters:

      - Texturing & playing around with materials: how to wisely choose textures from the internet, scaling precisely tiling layouts and dealing with joint alignments, how to go about mapping and ideas to push it further than just for materials, etc.

      - Adding life to the model: how to technically choose the best components from the warehouse, learning to add credibility and realism into the scenes, other extra touches to differentiate ourselves, etc.

      - Achieving a captivating perspective view: basically, in this chapter I’d combine my knowledge in architectural photography (7+ years) with my experience with Sketchup. So it would include how to choose the best angles of view, the best lighting, dealing with interior scenes, as well as going through ideas for presenting a project using different styles, etc.

What would make this course unique is its specificity, as well as the integration of photographic notions. When you think about it, the best references for showing a project are in architectural photography because this discipline’s purpose is precisely to showcase architecture in the most appealing way and in its best form.

The point also is that even people who want to edit or render their projects further (Photoshop, Vray, …) can benefit from it as they would bring out the maximum potential of their scenes.

The full course would probably be around 3h30 long, so I’d be going quite in depth (and without spending too much time on generalities or basics).

How does this sound to you?
Would you be interested in such a course?

I’d love to hear from you.

      Cheers!

      Nizar**

What solutions ? ... Please let me know, 'cause it's been YEARS I'm having trouble with memory problems, and this is the only real solution I found, saving me a huge amount of time. Thought it would be a good thing to share it with our fellow SU-VR users.

(right now I'm making a render, "only" 1600px wide, .exr output, decreased texture sizes, and the memory Sketchup is using is up to 3.3 GB)

Well, I might have a (extremely) useful solution for you guys.
      I found this on a guy's blog :

[mod="Gaieus":20iqenqz]Deleted link to uncontrolled and unverified exe file theoretically capable of anything harmful. If you need to "hack" your loading in a 32bit environment, there are safer solutions.[/mod:20iqenqz]
It's a patch for Sketchup.exe that makes it use 4GB of RAM instead of 2GB.
I literally went crazy when I found this, and turned out it works !

However, I'm also using Arroway textures... In my last scene, I have like a couple of wood texture, ground tiles, and grass, and it reaches the 4GB of RAM (even by saving in .EXR format).
So I guess I'm going to make a low resolution version of the textures I'm using the most, and applying them accordingly to the setup of my scene.
