      SketchUp Stability
      by arthur87 on Sun Apr 17, 2011 2:27 pm

Is version 8 the most stable version SketchUp. And why do the makers of sketchup haven't been still able to the toolbar crash problem. they just added the restore toolbars option, the toolbar position still goes haywire many times.

When useing large skp file layout of objects this will make more since to you. Yes?
They all using the same resource.

When all get max out we then use the view 7 just to look at a file.

Sketchup cant be format 24/7 to do everything, so smaller task dose help Stability

Think of it as a production flow to a end game.

    • RE: Where IS the SketchUp Plugin folder?

Mac users I sorry, I miss readed your question.
This is how window work with sketchup.

MS Windows vista, win7 only not mac:

Right click on your sketchup 8 shortcut, select open file location or properties - open file loaction.

When file loaction opens in explorer you should see a Plugins folder
if not create a new folder and rename it to Plugins.

If it say you can't rename it then its is hidden or the file has security see your admin for help. To unhide a file use Explorer - tools -folder options - view
then select, show hidden files or folders = on.

I think you should be ready to go now.

      Extra set up:

Right click Plugins folder - create shortcut.

Cut and paste to any folder for easy access to the internet
      Example: desktop or links folder.

      note
[vista, win 7] open Explorer - organize - layout - navigation pane is on
favorite links list comes from the links folder.

The navigation pane favorite links can be added to or reorder by dragging and dropping folders shortcuts to it and will show up in the links folder

Go go internet download action on zips and xxx.rb:

zips: open - select all - drag and drop on (navigation pane) plugins folder. (nice and sweet).

xxx.rb: Save as - (navigation pane) press plugins folder - Save (easy work).

    • RE: Big Problem for Experts

The way I work this is to turn the object plane on it side and use the select tool to select around a plain (look like a line at 90 deg).

Use edit menu, make a group, then double clip on group.

In view menu turn off hidden geometry

Now open Windows menu and select soften edges
(or context right click soften edges)
      a) if flat surface check coplanar
      b) if not flat check normal
      c) if combination check both.
(the slider at 180 deg is total soften and 0 deg un-soften)
Now paint the group selected surface.

      Here a plug-in that I also use a lot.

Hint You could also use the eraser tool to fast select, but just before you erase hit spacebar, now the lines are selection ready for a soften tool process.

      Enjoy
