Are you trying for a robo cop alike soldier robot? From a practical point of view 'bots are likely to come in two varieties, flying and tracked/wheeled. For a humanoid type yours has more credibility than many around but the non textured image seems to suit more render types. Urban and many rural scenarios are better covered by a single drab colour as far as military practise goes. To be really up to date your 'bot would not hold a weapon system like a human, the hydraulic system would be easily capable stability wise and binocular vision over a wider field would enable range data to be more accurate anyway. Likely to be radar or ladar based rather than optical.

Ah thank you for the input. I actually gave a lot of thought to using a humanoid form for this type of robot. Really military applications are just one use for them. there is a level of shock and awe with human form on the battlefield. I know you can't see it in this version of the model but there are two additional sensor modules in the torso for radar and ultrasound.the optic systems are really just for show and to confuse attackers. The head it's self contains only sensors the main computer is housed deep in the chassis. another thing I was thinking with the humanoid form was to lower the arm joins and ad an extra segment to give the limbs a range of movement far beyond that of any human. the limbs can move independently upwards to a 360 degree angle giving the platform a lot more versatility over harsh terrain that a wheeled or tracked type robot. I personally would want to see these sorts of robots in peaceful civilian application but with any new tech the military is always the biggest buyer. But thanks again you have just given me the idea to make an whole presentation about it if it was an actual product. btw you have any good tutorials for texturing in sketchup?

Hey just wanted to drop a robot design on you guys. I'm still debating weather to paint over the model or not. Any tips folks?

just noticed that, I will have to fix it
and yes I did the models are pretty simple for them though, i can post later if you like
My only comment is: your wheels are cutting through the bender or whatever you want to call it.

Did you model the bees? is there a closeup of them? That would be fun if these bees were actually cyborg bees with organic body and head but with cybernetic legs and wings. πŸ˜‰

Nicely done, the details are great πŸ‘

I was wondering tho, if it's purpose is to deliver the drones, what is the function of all the arms?

Also, if it is to operate in fields maybe a more aggressive tread would be called for?

yes a more treded wheel wwould work better, the main body of hive would still function independently of the drones as a farming robot, the arms will have multi tools that can be changed for whatever situation is needed.

Hey folks I'm pretty new to the forum, I just wanted to share a concept for a farming robot I had called hive, It would use tiny robotic drones to pollinate crops and deliver insecticide and such to plants. well let me know what you think, also does anyone know of any free organic modeling plug ins?

Awesome modeling and presentation, have not seen the movie (tired of city destroying robot movies) so cannot comment on accuracy.

the movie was awesome, it made me feel like a kid again, also do you have any suggestions on good plugins?

    • Working with curved Surfaces.

Hi I'm pretty new to sketchup and thus far enjoying it immensely. Two things though. I'm looking for a plug in that will allow me to work on curved surfaces. Also I'm trying to figure out why my plugins that I am trying to use never load properly I get this message.

      Error Loading File bootstrap_OnSurface.rb
uninitialized constant SUToolsOnSurface::T6Error Loading File EraserOnSurface.rb

      Any help would be great.

      Thanks.
