Can one save settings in LayOut? For example, Viewport/Hybrid, Camera/Preserve Scale. I always use these settings. Is it possible to make them default?

RE: Unique Tag
Dave R, you did it again. Beautiful! Thank you so much!

RE: Unique Tag
Dave R, thank you. Good to know that it is normal behavior.
@dave r said:
In your case, use it to create a tag with the exact same name as the object you are copying before you copy and paste the object.
I Activated Auto-Invisible Layer. I created a tag called "Circle". I named the object "Circle" in Outliner. Sorry, I can't figure out how to use it.

Unique Tag
Whenever I paste into a scene with a specific tag, that tag always appears in all of the other scenes.
For example, if Scene 1 is set to only shows objects with Tag 1, Scene 2 is set to only shows objects with Tag 2, etc. If I paste a new object into Scene 3 with Tag 3, Tag 3 appears in Scene 1 and 2 against my wishes. I always have to make it invisible and Update Scene 1 and 2.
How does one make the tag unique to the scene that is desired.

RE: Filling for dxf file
"usually redrawing one of the edges makes SU fill the face."
Anssi, thank you. Yes, that works!

Part of a line?
The eraser tool deletes the entire line. Can one erase part of a line?

RE: Tutorial: Export Sketchup to Pdf file
Dave R,
Thank you so much.
I added 10 pages. Page 1 was Scene 1.
Then, I copied Scene 1 and pasted to Page 2. Clicked on Scene 1 and chose Scene 2 in Viewport.
Went to page 3, pasted Scene 1. Clicked on Scene 1 and chose Scene 3 in Viewport, etc. Then I exported all of the pages/scenes to pdf.
Am I missing any more steps?

RE: Tutorial: Export Sketchup to Pdf file
Dave R,
Thank you for responding.
I seem to be missing a step.
When I saved my SU and sent it to LO, there is only one page. For example, it only shows Scene 1. There are no other pages for the other scenes.
Then, when I export the LO to pdf, there is an option to export all of the pages, but I have only one page/one scene to export. How does one get all of the scenes to appear on a different pages?

RE: Tutorial: Export Sketchup to Pdf file
Richard,
"When the output is as you really want it to be, one can export to several file types including multi-page PDFs."
How does one export multi-page PDFs? For example, I have a LayOut file with 9 scens. Do I have to export each scene separately?

RE: Trim a Sandbox
Rich,
Thank you for replying.
How were you able to select them so neatly? -
Trim a Sandbox
Can one trim a sandbox?
I made the geometry too big. Can one trim it down?

Pattern Fill in SU?
Can one create/design a pattern fill for a SU model?
I'm printing a book in black and white and I need hatching of water - waves. Not too realistic, rather symbolic. It seems, form what I've seen, one can only design and use a new pattern fill in LayOut. i don't use LO too much.

RE: 3D into 2D?
@dave r said:
It's possible to do it without any extensions. You just need to clean up the edges where there are overruns and gaps so a face can be formed.
<!-- ia0 -->Screenshot - 1_31_2023 , 9_09_27 AM.png<!-- ia0 -->[/attachment:3sy8c9gg]Your model would be easier to work with if you'd turn off Length Snapping.
Dave R, thank you, but I was hoping for a solution that was a little less tedious.
Good advice. It is much easier to work with Length Snapping turned off.

RE: 3D into 2D?
Exported object as a dwg and imported it as a flat, 2D object. I would like only the profile, the outer boundaries of the flat image and the ability to color it with a material fill.

3D into 2D?
May I easily convert a 3D object into a 2D object?
Once I have the desired perspective and angle of the 3D object, it would be easier for me to work with it as a 2D object in SU.

Right Click/Copy
It would be useful to e able to select an object and right-click/copy.

Flat bottom
How can I make this boat have a flat bottom? I would like to slice it where the horizontal plane is. I saw Dave R's instructions in "Cut object in half and have it separated", but can't duplicate it.

RE: Color Change - PDF
Dave R.,
I understand why in the SU file there are different shades of gray according to the light source.I was just wondering why the PDF doesn't duplicate the colors that are in the SU model.

RE: Color Change - PDF
If you're going to make your PDF exports from SketchUp instead of LayOut you might as well skip the textures and just use colors.
But, why do the side walls change color? They are not textures but rather increments of gray.
