yes nice models and would look really good rendered i am sure. there are also rendering programs that work inside sketchup, like podium and v-ray. i have used v-ray and think it's pretty good. but also, i am no rendering expert.

another thing, there is a "render this" competition on this site every so often. maybe if you could see how much difference a good render makes on your model you'd want to do it too!

can you show us your models as wireframes too please?

      i enjoyed the challenge tho!

i would guess it's someone similarly humble dismissively summing up their (probably brilliant) work... do i get 2 points for that?

yes and a nice image, too.

may i ask what else you do that means you can be a global moderator and still learning SU?

i understand we are all still learning - but you must be excellent at something!

    • RE: Burt's WIP

out of interest, is this model made in two halves as components so you only need to model half of it?
same with the wheels etc. or is it just copies of linework?

good model, especially for 2 days!

i think you should change the style to something without sketchy lines - it is not a sketchy model!

    • RE: Trees for game tutorial

they look like nice models, well textured, but....

to be honest they do not have the same shape as most trees i am used to - a lot of trunk and not much foliage - maybe you are copying a particular variety? maybe you could post a picture of something you are using as inspiration?

what is the reason for the very out-of-place staircase in the corner of the restaurant?

    • RE: The Downfall

i guess you wanted to model the red bits - an image would reduce file size and allow the pattern to look right in one step.
why does it matter if the gun model is created in skp or not? it looks good to me (the untrained eye)

i hope you intend a slightly surreal image - i like it!
why is the skirting on the left not a uniform colour?

    • RE: The Downfall

      very atmospheric
the red is a bit bright tho, isn't it?
also, the pattern is not typical of 'splattering'... you could flick some ink and see it just looks different (not speaking from any experience of your room, you understand!)

    • RE: Adding model to landscape photo

in addition, if the textures you find are the right sort of thing, but the wrong colour, you can edit them in sketchup using the materials palette.

a bit more context would be nice - if you want just have a site plan or something, or white block model. are there other buildings near to it?
