    • SU 8 Sluggish Computer

Hi all, Have been using SU for a while now and have noticed my computer is slugish when working in Sketchup. Kinda slow to scroll and zoom (feels like you are zooming thruogh a solid sometimes and things that used to be easy now take effort. Does SU 8 require more grunt? I am using: a hp pavilion 2x2.5 gig, 4MB of RAM, NVIDEA G Force 8600M GS. I have installed the latest driver's for NVIDEA. Any ideas or suggestions? 😞

      Cheers

    • Giving thickness to a shell

I am trying to create a helicopter canopy and have attached image. Is there a way to add thickness to it? It was created by being the reminant of a "boolean" of a scaled sphere and other geometry.

    • Su UI appearence

Hi all, I have been trying for sometime to get sketchup to look a little bit more sophisticated and not so comic, as I often do work in front of clients. I found out how to change the look but it requires that all windows are changed. I don't find this a bad thing. I have attached the style which works for me. Simply copy it to your theme style under appearence in windows control panel and activate it. Er..... I am not allowed to attach the theme so if anyone wants the theme and knows how to allow me to attach it please let me know

      Cheers

    • RE: Text and images on curved or organic surfaces

I have now got this sorted. I was cunfused as it is refferred to as texture. Knowing that though it is quite straightforword and simple.

      Cheers πŸ˜„

    • Text and images on curved or organic surfaces

Hi all, I have noticed images and text on curved and organic surfaces. How is this achieved. I asume that drape could be used but this would be time consuming. This would not help with raster images though. Can anyone point me in the right direction :

If not what do you think of the Idea. Basically the sketchup comunity supplying local Community tv stations πŸ˜‰ with a sketcup show. Any thoughts?

Thanks honoluludesktop can you or anyone recommend a render program that that is a good starter package, simplicity in default but has potential to tweak? Thanks again.

    • RE: What's your beginners tip?

Model somthing that is accesable to you, your house, letterbox, a piece of furniture etc model and delete/build until you get it right. Emulating the real world will force you to uncover new aspects of SU you may not otherwise stumble upon.

    • Rendering

Hi all my first post. I use sketchup a fair bit mainly for architecture and landscape. I have had a play with podium and irender Nxt (trials and in default) etc but was blown awaywith some of the renderings i have seen here!! I have looked at some tutes and am in severe information overload!!?!? There seems to be so many options and potential blind alley's. Could someone please set me on the right track with thier experiences. It would be such big help 😲 Thanks
