      Thanks for the comments!
Good link, Cadmunkey. I'm a fan of this miniaturization melarkey.

Seems to me that birdseye aerial shots with built up areas and lots of trees work really well for this effect, if anyone wants to give it a try.

      Cheers,

    • Quick Irender Nxt Hospital Render

      Not enough Nxt on here!
10 mins render of a project, existing massing small tweaks to default outdoor settings in Nxt with some material edits.
2 mins in PhotoShop to achieve "tilt shift" effect. Thanks for looking.

      Cheers,

      Hi Solo,

These look great and I'm glad that someone else is using NXT! I love it and use it a lot in work; must post a couple of images soon. Doesn't get any easier than one click renders.

      Hi Jim.

Many thanks for the Form Fonts prompt. For the life of me, I couldn't recall the name of that website!
I'll trot off and check it out now.

    • Lasik equipment models or drawings sources

      Hi all,

      Hope everyone is well today.

Quick request from me and maybe some good soul can point me in the right direction.
Does anyone know of a link to Lasik laser equipment or a Lasik suite? Even bog standard eye exam stuff would be a great starting point and a huge help.

      Many thanks,

      Nigel

    • RE: How Healthy are YOU?

All the best with the recovery, Mike.
I know how hard it is when there's tea and pastries to be had every couple of hours; maybe a sausage roll into the bargain. That used to be my daily routine, living in Derry and Belfast.
Not any more, especially since my wee girl was born. I've nixed the booze the last few years too, but still relapse to the odd ciggie here and there. Everything in moderation, I say but don't make yourself miserable.
No better country to get out for a walk than the Emerald Isle too.
Are you on a daily aspirin and all that business? Porridge every day and lots of green tea should see you right!

      Take care,

      Nigel

    • RE: Photo to cad conversion - possible?

      Hello Princedragoncok.

Glad to help out a mucker from back home!
All great suggestions above and I'd really agree with the Illustrator method.

Maybe you can give us a bit more detail in what exactly you'd like to measure and the proposed end result - length/width, step r/g, windows, roof; all for modelling, I'm assuming? I might be able to be of a bit more help if I get a little more detail.

      Good luck,

      Cheers,

      Nigel

    • RE: How does one attain credentials for Sketchup?

      http://docs.google.com/View?docid=dd8dnz54_2cndh7q

I was browsing their site this morning, with an interest in perhaps taking another course this year.
Found this list for countries outside the US; I believe these training facilities are Google approved.

    • RE: How does one attain credentials for Sketchup?

      Hi,

Maybe this might be of some use. Incidentally, I have literally found this certificate today, after losing it for a few months.
Around this time last year, I attended an official Google training class, here in Atlanta.
It was a one day course at intermediate level and afterwards they mailed a certificate stating that I had participated in
"Mastering 3D Using SketchUp, Essential Two". This apprently also earns me 3 AIA CES learning units, 3 ASLA CPE learning units.

Hope the info is useful. I imagine that 2009 course details might be found on the offical Google home page.

      Cheers all,

      Nigel

    • RE: Broken ass!

      Hi Solo,

      😮

I'm wincing in sympathy..so sorry this has happened at this time of year, but there's never a good time to crack the Coxyx.
Yes, I have done the same thing before. I received a knee to the butt in 1984 whilst playing rugby and that did a great job of cracking and splintering the bone.
Good news is that it will heal with help from that lovely donut support, just be prepared for all sorts of whoopee cushion jokes and pranks like someone pulling it from under you as you go to sit down. Hilarious and painful!
Still to this day, my Coxyx will ache in a dull pain fashion if I sit too long on a plane seat for example. I also recall taking a while to turn over in bed, get up in the morning or get up from a sofa...I'm sure you're discovering that too.

Hang in there and take it easy. Hope you get some relief over the Holidays.

      Nigel

p.s. Thanks for all your postings and shares in 2008. Illuminating and inspiring.

    • RE: Toolbars ARGH!

      +1

I have the same irritations with scattered toolbars every time I fire up Sketch Up and have to drag them around to where I want them every time...I'd love to see a fix/patch or ruby for this.
Anyone know how to set Sketch Up to open to maximum screen view every time when it opens instead of opening to a squashed or mininmized) view? It seems to exacerbate the scattered toolbars problem.

      Cheers, all.

    • RE: WIP - Appartments in Belfast- Update 2007-10-26

      Hi Paul.
Fantastic work and you're making me homesick. Till I saw the wet roads...

Quick question - is this on the Ormeau Road opposite the Hatfield? If so, I used to rent a flat right there, on the frontage! I recall it was a new flat but damp as hell...rubbishy wasteland out the back.

      Cheers,

      Paul,

This is sensational work. I can confirm, as someone who walked this road regularly for 10 years, that this is amazing work.
I almost nostalgic now and would like to nip over for a curry chip and a trip to the off license!

Cheers Paul and keep up the good work!
