Further advice well received. I will also look for the Purge plug in. I saw a post below mine that was griping about SU. Every program has its limits no matter the dollar assigned to it. Frankly after 5 years and the need for simplicity in 3D drawing I think SU has really been a great addition for the amateur world. Especially when Sketucation can come through with pleasant down to earth, straight to detail, advice like what I have just experienced. I did not mean to start anything new here. I merely mean to again (and in another way) thank those people that so enjoy the program that they are willing to offer free advice. Fords are Fords. Fords simply just don't come with Rolls Royce interiors. But, you can still have a nice ride through the countryside while in a Ford!

RE: Delete Component Reference
Got it!!! Thanks for your help. Actually I also just found that I could "right click" then "delete" within the In Model window. I could have sworn I tried that earlier only to find the "delete" to be greyed out. Oh Well. I then tried the Purge in the Details window and it also worked. Very cool cleaner up'er. Lotta drawings to go through now!
But, not today.
Thanks again you three.

RE: Delete Component Reference
I can't seem to locate the Purge option in the Components drop down. Can you give some further guidance?
-
RE: Delete Component Reference
Dave and Box,
No I have not tried the purge feature. Let me look for it, try it, and then I'll get back to you. Yes, it does sound like a cool safety feature. I just looked in the Outliner and the parts are not there.

Delete Component Reference
I am using SU2014. I have a SU drawing where I cannot delete the reference of a component in the 'In Model Library'. Example: I have a component library titled as "Hardware Component Library". The SU drawing has 4 references of Hardware Component "A" showing in the 'In Model Library" as follows: A, A#1, A#2, and A#3. All four of those actual components (A thru A#3) were deleted from the SU drawing. Then I deleted Hardware Component "A" from the Hardware Component Library.
Here remains the problem - A, A#1, A#2, and A#3 REMAIN LISTED in the "In Model" library of the drawing. How do I get them out of there? I do not want any references of Component "A" showing anywhere; either In Model or in a component library.
I have tried opening and closing SU but that makes no difference. The references remain.
This is not the first time over the past few years I have had this problem. However, this is the first time I have addressed it to the forum to find a solution. In all of my other drawings I have just let various references remain.

RE: Axis Visibility
Thank you for the profile advice. I will immediately do that. As for the OpenGL settings - I will experiment in that area. Thanks again.

Axis Visibility
I have just completed upgrading from SU8 to SU2014. I work mostly in the woodworking template. I INSTANTLY have noticed that the red, blue, green - xyz - axis are quite faint in definition. They are barely visible. I am running Windows 7 and pretty much have a power user desktop machine focused on strong graphics for CAD work. I never had this visibility issue in SU8.
Any suggestions to improve the issue?
Thanks,

RE: Edge Roundover on Cylinder
Thanks everybody. I'm gonna give the Plug-in option a run at it first. I have used some really good plug-ins from Fredo and others.
Thanks Again, Have a nice day.

Edge Roundover on Cylinder
I drew a 2" diameter circle. I Push/Pulled it to 1" tall. I want to add a 1/4" radius rounded edge around the top and bottom 2" diameter circumferences.
I can't figure out how and where on the cylinder to draw the 1/4" radius profile in order to use the Follow Me tool.
Sure would appreciate some help!!

RE: Push Pull a Weld
So, is what you are saying is that I did not originally draw it to exactly follow the red axis?

RE: Push Pull a Weld
I just tried the Extrude Edges by Vector. I extruded on the gree axis and it went like a charm; HOWEVER - the extruded shape is hollow inside. There is not a left and right face. For more detail what I am trying to create is a google piece that resembles a Fifth Wheel RV Camper. So, I drew the side by using lines and curves. But now I can't get the left and right side to be faces. The Extrusion by vector gave me the front, rear, top, and bottom but no left and right faces.

RE: Push Pull a Weld
Thanks. I will try the Extrude Edges. I tried the JPP but there was no face created by the joined lines so that didn't work. I though sure that just joining lines together created a face. Where am I wrong there?

Push Pull a Weld
I have used the Weld.rb plugin to create a shape from several intersecting lines and curves. That went great. BUT, how do I Push Pull the completed shape?
Thanks,

Urgent - Help with Profiled Component
I have drawn a 3/4" thick x 2-1/4" wide x 27-3/4" long piece of wood. On one of the 2-1/4" x 27-3/4" faces of the piece I have placed a 'cove' profile. The profile follows one 27-3/4" edge and two 2-1/4" edges. Why the heck can't I then take that profiled piece of wood and - MAKE COMPONENT!!!???? The MAKE COMPONENT feature is grayed out after selecting the profiled piece.
I could really use some quick help here.

Major Importing Sketchup Problems
T94_1.pdfI have been using Sketchup to draw pieces of furniture. I then open up TurboFLOORPLAN Pro v14 by IMSI Design. Upon importing a
Sketchup drawing into TFLPv14 the material goes wacky. Is there something I might be missing in SU that would prevent what you see in the attachments to this post? Here are the steps I take. Please view the attachments when reading to fully understand my problem.
- Created SU file (T94_1.pdf); the horizontal pieces are components with horizontal wood grain applied; the vertical piece is a component with vertical wood grain applied. Both were put onto their own layers.
- T94_2.pdf shows the SU file imported into TFLPv14. After it was imported I had to change mapping tiles to get the grain in perspective.
- NOTE: how the top of the horizontal pieces has a different grain direction
- T94_3.pdf is from behind the view in T94_2.pdf. Notice the wacky tiling of the wood grain
This is really a mind boggler. Can this problem be stopped in SU or is the problem taking place in TFLPv14? TFLPv14 is a very very good program for designing but I must use SU to make pieces of furniture that are specific to my needs.
Any help, opinions, etc. would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

RE: FredoScale Confusion
All of you are correct. I always like to have a system to filing things that's why I do all the folder thingies. Anyway somewhere along the way there may be somebody that needs a step by step. Maybe this will help.
I do want you all to know that I appreciate your correcting my detail. I take no offense at all.
Have a nice day. I'll talk to you all the next time I need help. And I'm sure I will.

RE: FredoScale Confusion
Okay, so nobody helped me! Just kidding. I figured it out on my own. For future FredoScale Installations here is how to git er' done on PC's (I don't know about Macs).
- Create a "Downloads" folder on your C drive if you do not already have one
- Create a subfolder in the Downloads folder called "FredoScale"
- Go to - http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=180&t=17948&st=0&sk=t&sd=a
- Scroll halfway down the first post until you find the following download: FredoScale User Manual - English - v2.0 - 28Mar09.pdf
- Click on the file and then "Save" the FredoScale User Manual - English - v2.0 - 28Mar09.pdf to the FredoScale subfolder in the Downloads Folder
- Open the "User Manual" .pdf file and minimize that window
- Go to - http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=180&t=17948&st=0&sk=t&sd=a
- Scroll to the very bottom of the 1st post and locate the following file: FredoScale 2.0h.zip
- Click on the file and then "Save" the FredoScale 2.0h.zip to the FredoScale subfolder in the Downloads Folder
- Go to - http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=180&t=17947&p=144178#p144178
- Scroll to the very bottom of the first post and locate the following file: LibFredo6 3.4b.zip
- Click on the file and then "Save" the LibFredo6 3.4b.zip to the FredoScale subfolder in the Downloads Folder
- Now navigate back to the C:/Downloads/FredoScale folder
- Right click the FredoScale 2.0h.zip and left click on Extract All
- Direct the windows unzip extraction to c:/Program Files/Google/Google Sketchup 7/plugins
- Navigate back to the C:/Downloads/FredoScale folder
- Right click the LibFredo6 3.4b.zip and left click on Extract All
- Direct the windows unzip extraction to c:/Program Files/Google/Google Sketchup 7/plugins
- After the extraction navigate to the c:/Program Files/Google/Google Sketchup 7/plugins folder
- Double check that the footprint of the plugins folder looks just like the bottom of page 1 of the Users Manual
- Open up Sketchup and you will see the new FredoScale Toolbar
- Read the Users Manual and you're ready to go.
I hope this helps someone else in the future. Ain't Google Sketchup cool!? Wait till you add FredoScale!!

FredoScale Confusion
I'm getting kinda freaked out with this whole FredoScale download thing. Can someone make it a little clearer for me. It appears as though it is in Chinese. Am I correct? Then there is the LibFredo6 thing. Then there is the issue of having my PC computer handle Chinese. How do I do that? Is this a safe plugin? Will it get my computer all messed up? I've never encountered a download like this before and it makes me uneasy. Can someone clear it up a little bit for me? Thanks for your help.
