Hey Guys,
I understand the entries for the competition or the winner's on the website were to be announced on April 30th. I can't seem to find the entries or the winners. Looked all over.
Can you link the page?

I have no FW running when I attempt to run the procedure.
anolloth@ice-edge.com wants a password.
I've tried about 4 times, everything goes fine till the end of 'processing geometry'. I've given it from 20 to 45 minutes.
Well. . . I tried.
After overcoming the conflict with COMODO and several attempts to upload, I find it's not possible to upload the model I want to use. I am able to upload small to medium models, but had no interest in sharing those.
ICEvision interface would consistently hang at around 80-90% at the 'processing geometry' stage.
My attempt was to be North Carolina State University's Memorial Bell Tower. I and fellow co-workers had the opportunity to field measure the entire tower . . outside and inside as well as the internal components. The model uses almost no textures. Virtually every surface with a differential surface offset of 1/4" or more is modeled. This appears beyond the capability of the importer.
So. . .as I said, I tried, and best of luck to those who were successful with the software.
Thanks, it was indeed COMODO's firewall blocking JAVA's javaws.exe.
What had me befuddled is even with COMODO disabled OR having javaws.exe as a trusted executable, it STILL conflicted.
I uninstalled COMODO and everything worked fine.
Now I will check if I re-install COMODO and leave it in learning mode from the moment it's installed and then run ICE to see if I still have the issue.
I've downloaded the SUP plugin and have Java currently up to date but keep getting this error to view the gallery.
Simply Awsome.
SketchUcation has really cranked up the frequency of sweet work lately.
Very impressive. Awesome attention to detail!
I was just curious about those textures on the walls to the left in the last pic?
Does iRender have turbidity as a variable? It would really give your work a feel of distance.
Well done rcossoli!
My only comment is the quality of the women paste-in by the pool in the rendered version looks starkly out of place.
David, you may have intentionally wanted those main columns and the radius of the upper "roof" area faceted. But if you didn't, what you need to do is increase the circle segments and arc segments. To do that; as soon as you pick the circle command, type in something like 36. You'll notice the default is 12. You'll see it in the lower right corner beside "SIDES". Same with the arc command, put in something like 36.
Dunno if this has been mentioned yet, but apparently several of the models in Avatar started life as SU models.

I'm using two monitors and noticed when a pop-out such as 'Materials' or 'Layers' is in the draw window, the scrambling is especially harsh.
Also, so you guys know that don't experience this problem, it doesn't effect the file and it is somewhat infrequent, usually doing it when copying or moving poly heavy groups, etc.
Hi everyone,
I KNOW this has been covered before, but I can't figure out how to phrase the search engine.
I'm using a 'new to me' PC and keep getting this nonsense below. Any insight how to fix this would be appreciated.
I had a Hot Wheels car like that when I was a kid. Could have sworn it was called the Manta.

Here's a sequel/takeoff to Avatar with Cameron selling it.

At the slight risk of giving someone a headache, anyone seen two image stereograms?
Basically cross your eyes till you get a third 3D image in the middle of the two images on the screen.
Also remember these? They were all the rage back in the 80's and early 90's.

The modeling, animating and rendering is only half the story here. The real brilliance is in the compositing and After Effects work that Alex did. The scene transitions and score of music evoke a sense of peace and harmony that is hard to put into words. Brilliant work of art. A year of Alex's life summed up in a little over 12 breathtaking and meditative minutes.

Very well said!
Hehe....reading Ringworld's Children at the moment as a matter of fact.
I read RW back in the 70's and was awe-stricken as a young teen. As a matter of fact, it was probably Niven's works that pushed me to physics and engineering. Niven has an uncanny ability to visualize worlds that are at least somewhat plausible with the given technology.
Speaking of Avatar and Niven. I saw it in an IMAX-3D in Raleigh, NC over the new year weekend and was stunned at the beauty like everyone else.
BUT, it made me think of a Niven book as I was watching it, and that was The Integral Trees. If you love Niven's imagination, you will love the book. Like Avatar, Niven's early books before teaming with Pournelle were never overly ambitious with story telling as he leaned more for how fantastic tech and environments effected people or aliens. The comparison of Integral Trees. . .with the 9 foot 'humans', the insanely large "floating" trees, all in zero g (somewhat like the floating mountains) made me wish SO much Cameron had chosen Niven's book for his project instead.
