RE: The Art of SketchUp - part 1: Fantasy
Awesome work Ken. Some of your models remind of a cityscape I saw in a movie recently called Space Pirate; Captain Harlock. HERE'S a quick glimpse of it. In the film, at Blu-ray resolution, it's incredible. In the film, it pans for several seconds twice . . . overall of the city, and then very close. It's quite stunning.

Hey Ken, in celebration of the Mayan calender, your image below reminds me of this video, most especially this point in the video?

RE: Most impressive SketchUp modelling
Very nice. Being able to copy and paste for additional perceived detail is a nice feature when the opportunity arises.

RE: Eyebrow roof detail
That's quite a double trough generated. How did the rain gutter work out?
-
RE: Fender Stratocaster - Finished
Very sweet.
The only thing I would offer is to shift the wood texture a bit on the three so the pattern is not an exact match.

RE: Industrial loft
Looks nice. The only thing I would suggest to bump it a touch, would be to detail the stair's W-beams where they meet the floor. Pouring the floor around the beams is very unlikely.

RE: Different design...
Reminds me of the ending of 2001 where Dave Bowman sees himself born and age in the stark white Neoclassical-like rooms.

RE: Professor Fate's "Hannibal 8"
Looks awesome.
My, you have some hours invested there.

RE: Detailed House Render Project (updated 26th feb)
Strikes me as sterile and all concrete. Similar to this design
Also, are you still using VRAY?

RE: [Plugin] Sketchup Ivy
Been enjoying the plugin a lot. Thank you very much Pierreden.
I've read through this massive thread and understand why half the leaves have the white background. But I'm curious why some leaves have a transparent square for the textures behind, yet has an edge that sees completely through a copy of the same texture?!
Is there any more versions of this going to be released? I see it hasn't been worked on in 10 months.

RE: Modeling space frame
By the way hanthu, HERE is a wonderful, and quite remarkable series of videos exploring the 4th dimension and related dimensional tensors.
Not sure if they still offer the 720P versions for download anymore, but they are still beautiful to watch.

Hmm... I'm sorry but I didn't get what you mean by "technical issue"? Didn't I mentioned it in my post that this is something I modeled and rendered when I was free?
It's not illegal to model and render existing structures/buildings here in Malaysia. Also, this is not a project of mine so I didn't really disclose any sensitive data, if there's any, about the design in the model, which I shared in 3D Warehouse. Lastly, I believe no contractor will build a structural steel staircase solely based on a 3D model without fully annotated and authority approved construction drawings.
I know where you're coming from. It has been "suggested" to me as well to not share work under construction and/or still under development. I understand the professional and commercial mindset, especially when the project is for a client or the work is sensitive to IP in some way. But for the most part, all the hand-wringing to not share models, especially screenshots or renders is a bit ridiculous.

Great staircase! Are all connections welded?
That was going to be my question.
I see the handrails appear to be welded to the diamond plate and also there's a solid connection between the building and the staircase by the handrails.
I would also suggest kick plates under the handrails on at least the third level, if not the second.

RE: Model and render this: Glass brick/block
Hi everyone. As you explore refraction with your rendering software, I urge you to look at it deeper than merely the image you want from behind the glass.

RE: Anyone Using a 3D Mouse?
I was lucky enough to win a Navigator about 2 years ago and find it very nice. The fidelity of movement along with the ability to control Sketchup and hardly move the cap allows me to model for hours with almost no fatigue.
The only caveat I would have for anyone considering one is it takes many hours to get proficient with it, as I am sure your muscle memory is adapted to a mouse, and the Navigator is an entirely different animal.
One bit of "icing on the cake" is Connexion has released a broad spectrum driver which allows you to use it in almost any software or game of your choosing. Here I am driving in Dirt3 with it.

RE: The Youngest Architect in Sketchucation
Yes, very much look into certification or licensing. Whatever is required in your country, so you don't go through the turmoils of THIS FELLOW.
