    • RE: INDIGO STUDY INDOOR SCENE

Thanks for that Kwisten, very informative.
I was wondering if you would post your scene with out post-pro. It would help in seeing the difference and, for me, in interpreting what you mean. For some reason (I don;t really know why) I almost never use PS for my Indigo renders.πŸ˜’

I'm going to take some and use what you said.

and thanks for the scene Pibuz!(crojack from the Indigo forum)

    • RE: Export to PhotoShop CS4 Extended

well, you made the door a component right? and that's the only thing that shows up?
maybe try making the whole model a component?
      or check your export settings.

    • RE: I am tired of making renderings.....

looks great!! I sooooooooo wish Indigo/Skindigo would get the lat-long/exr thing figured out.

It would make a huge improvement, especially for exterior arch renders.

but, really great, I totally thought the backgrounds on the paper model renders were post.

one reason that alone would make me buy it (well, I already bought it) is, that in SU7 when you change the coordinate axes and then build new groups and components, their bounding boxes are aligned to the new coordinate axes and therefore scale in that direction as well...

Anyone have more of an update on this? Whaat?

(actually it's probably giving the exporter writers time to catch up with the newest releases of Indigo, but I still miss checking it everyday)

    • RE: IMPORTING FROM AUTOCAD

I'll have to check out the 2008 import, I have acad 2008 set to automatically save to 2007, the only difference is speed I believe, speed in opening and closing acad files.

You can manually drop lines in autocad to the 0,0. select the line, open the properties dialog box and there is an "Elevation" box, type in 0 and it should drop it. maybe works if you select all lines? not sure. can be time consuming, but it is there.

    • RE: IMPORTING FROM AUTOCAD

I have to import autocad files into Sketchup all the time.
I always copy and past the the cad that I need into a brand new cad file; then I usually put everything onto layer 0 (just my preference), but more importantly are some autocad commands,
type "flatten", and this will drop all the lines onto 0,0; then type "overkill", this will clean up the drawing and remove lines that are on top of other lines, then I usually do a purge and an audit.
Also, Sketchup can't import 2008, so you'll need to save down to 2007.
and when you import the cad into sketchup you need to click the options button and make sure that "preserve drawing origin" is clicked, that will bring it in in relation to Acad's 0,0.
      hope this helps πŸ˜„

    • RE: How can I have more than one flat plan-view scene?

Is it the rotation that is the main problem? Because you can zoom extents with the 2d/top view, than zoom window to the area you want.

Are you exporting this view as an image? If so, then you can rotate it any way you want after you have exported it.

Also, I'm not sure how big the model is, but you can do this in layout very easily.

    • RE: Sketchup 7?

Most things I think should be addressed have been mentioned here; ie, higher poly-count modeling, better curves, stronger "engine" underneath with fewer crashes.

A few tweaks I'd like to see that I've been trying to keep track of in my daily workflow:

      edit:DOH!

-ability to view components/materials with the thumbnail and the name of the component beneath it. I know that if you hover over it, the name pops up, but this doesn't work that well, sometimes it hangs on one of the components displaying it's name even when I move to another component and sometimes it takes a long time to show the name. just doesn't work that well.
also, ability to sort alphabetically/numerically in this list.

-ability to drag and drop the scene tabs where I want them, and to double-click on a scene tab to rename it. I know about the scene dialog box, but why go to a dialog box what could be done right in the modeling window? also, you have to sit there clicking the up and down arrows to re-order the scenes. Sometimes I have quite a few scene in my models.

-I am a big fan of the Outliner and would like to see it enhanced. Not sure exactly what those enhancements would be πŸ˜„ but it is a great tool!!

-I'd also like to see the "Flip Along" command change with the axes of the component. As it is, it stays with the global axes.

      • don't see a need for a renderer, there are some great ones out there that work well with SKP!

These are just a few, I'm sure there are more. πŸ’š

    • RE: Calling all SketchUp experts (in the U.S.)!

      Hi Craig,
Is this 1-year Temp with the possibility of longer if needed, or definitely just one year. I am most interested and think that I have the skills/knowledge to do this, as well as enjoying teaching. I have led small classes within our firm that I enjoyed. Another thing I'm curious about is the range of pay. Or course, that would be something maybe you could pm me, ball park figures are fine and everything is definitely confidential. The other swaying factor would be if I could be in Indianapolis training people somewhere around the weekend of September 14th. πŸ˜„ (Motogp)
