Man, I'm on board with the listed beers: Guinness, Newcastle, Sam Adams are my staples...plus Corona when it's hot as Hell...which it has been in Colorado lately.

But I have some new favorite local brews: http://www.breckenridgebrewery.com/

      Their Avalanche is awesome!

Hi Modelhead, I'm looking into your request now. I'm pretty sure that we're looking for individuals who will travel to training locations. Does that sound possible for you and/or your associates?

...and no, no-one's purposely ignoring your requests because of the name Modelhead! πŸ˜„

I'll let you know on both fronts.

    • RE: Aidan Chopra's new book

You're welcome! I guess (understandably) that schools don't like starting by calling their students "Dummies".

I recommend the books highly. I've learned things just by randomly opening and reading. Aidan used the vast resources of the entire SketchUp team to put together the information, so there are some very good nuggets in there.

    • Aidan Chopra's new book

I spoke with Aidan; this is the Education version of the Dummies book. So the layout is different, but it's essential the same information, just designed for the classroom instead of the coffee table/desk (wherever you do you computer learning).

Either way, both books are very good! (...however don't expect different information, just different formating)

Hi folks, I just spoke with our head of training and understand the positions a little better. It looks like these are FULL TIME (but temporary) positions and would require being treated as a full time gig.

I know there are folks out there that would be perfect for this position as a SketchUp trainer and it would open you up to many great contacts!

Please consider this, and throw your resume into the ring! <training at sketchup.com> (please say you saw the post at SCF when responding)

Come on all you SketchUp pros! This should be a very fun gig!

      That's great Peter! Thanks!

Tina Anne, I'll talk with the training folks tomorrow morning and will be in touch.

In looking at the responses, I may start to recommend that we have regional trainers...we'll see...

Thanks for your interest so far! I'll keep posting details.

      @anssi said:

I think there are many possible reasons:

      • components are not so readily available, especially of the whole product ranges of leading manufacturers.
      • getting components may require the mastery of conversion applications, file formats and scaling.

      Anssi

Hi Anssi, to counter these points, view these component collections on 3D Warehouse:

All you need to do is click the Download for SketchUp 6 or SketchUp 5 button, there is no conversion necessary...

What would make this easier or more user friendly?

That's great feedback guys! I can't wait till the call for European trainers comes up!

In the meant time, we're still looking for good U.S. trainers right now. If there are people who are on the fence about this, please let me know. We can talk through more of the details and maybe you'll find that this is possible to do AND have your own business not be affected.

You'll make great contacts in the U.S., and get a leg up on the competition while doing this trainer gig by the way.

Send in your resumes, or contact me.

      #3 is very disheartening....

Take a look at some of the 3D work that is going on there. Look at Westport, Ireland, or Marvao Portugal if you want to see some interesting 3D work.

    • RE: Joke time in the new bar!Posted: Wed May 16, 2007 2:02 pm

      Dirty Super Hero joke...

Superman was out one day flying around without much to do. As he flies over the Justice League, he notices Wonder Woman sunbathing naked on the roof!

Instantly turned on by this, and with nothing better to do, he figures he could fly down there in a flash and have his way with her so quickly she wouldn't know what hit her.

So Superman flies in, almost too fast to see, and wham-bam-thank-you-ma'm he does his best and zips away!

Wonder Woman bolts upright and says "Wow, what was that?!" ..to which the Invisible Man replies "I don't know, but my ass is KILLING ME!" πŸ˜‰

Hi Krisbern - Leopard is a little different in how it handles this. We're looking into the reports we've seen and will post when we get some information. If you have any different problems or learn any new clues, please post them and we'll take a look.

      craig,

i did what you suggested but nothing changed: startup still takes ages and the message about the expired license still shows.

      i am running tiger, yes.

Hmmm... Did you check to see if you have wireless and ethernet connections both on?

I think it is safe to update your version of SketchUp. I'm running the latest on my Mac with Tiger and am not having any new problems.

I'll look into this a bit more...the clue may be that it's taking a long time to launch..

Let me know about the network connections and if upgrading changes this behavior.
