Hi David, why did you change from Maxwell? What feature did Thea have that made you try it - or did you try and demo and simply fall in love with it?

Good stuff, my only crit would be that you have a combination of moving and static entourage which sometimes looks a little strange. Great city model though well done.

Landie, you have done a superb job. I absolutely love that second image but all 3 are fantastic.
I think you achieved exactly what you set out to do.

Another vote here for "carbonite". Very cheap for the amount of storage you can get and its been a life saver for me on a couple of occasions. Also a handy feature is that you can remotely access all your backed up files no matter where you are in the world. Handy when you realise you left that all important client presentation back at home when your a thousand miles away!!

Data recovery specialists seem to be a licence to print money. I've never known anyone that has been able to recover data from a wiped/trashed hard drive. All you ever get is a large bill!

    • RE: Detailed House Render Project (updated 26th feb)

An internal partition wall in a modern build would generally be 100-140mm thick. External walls are obviously alot thicker.
If you made every wall 1ft thick you'd seriously reduce the internal floor space unnecessarily.
But its your house design, so you do what you think is best, I like the progress so far. Looking forward to seeing more.

Just found this, I asked about a steel frame plugin but no-one suggested this. I detail building structures mainly so this will be very useful thanks!

    • Steel Frames

Anybody know of a sketchup extension/bolt on package that will produce steel frames relatively quickly? E.g. have a preset or customisable catalogue of steel section sizes that can be quickly inserted. Doesnt have to rival Revit, just something to show clients/contractors the basic steel frame of a building.
I have 1001 bit pro, but the steel sections just dont save or work that well.

Any suggestions welcome, doesnt matter if they arent free.
