hey. how are things going with this one? any news/progress? πŸ˜„

      Several things:

      1. I've finished adding more buildings and upgraded some of those that are already in.
      2. Used Vertex Tools to clean up more of the Google Earth mesh mismatches.
      3. I've purchased Instant Road from valiArchitects.com and plan to make the roads in the GE mesh into "real" roads.
      4. Although Thea is my primary render program it's still a beta so they won't get to adding EcoSystem capability until long after I need it: so I've purchase Vue 8 Complete so I can export the whole thing with the new SU2Vue plugin and use the EcoSystem to add "real" bushes and trees. This is going to take a while since I've never used Vue before. 😲

Try to update all your Fredo plugins and have the latest 3.4 and 3.5 of Fredo Lib.

I added Fredo Lib 3.4 and, at least for now, that seems to solve the problem.

      Comments Fredo?

    • Grayed-Out Right Click Menu

I know this was a problem before SU8 came out, but I still have the right-click menu grayed out almost all of the time.
Didn’t someone figure out that it was someone’s ruby that was causing it?

If so, could someone give me a steer in the right direction?

Thomthom and DaveR suggested replace all of Fredo's plugins-which I did.
But the problem is still there.

Does anyone remember any other "naughty" plugins that cause this ❓

It is reallyannoying and causes a largeincrease in time having to go to the edit menu each time.

      And it's free...

I've used Nudge for four years and wasn't looking for a replacement. If I didn't already have it I'd be downloading jsMoveTool right now (as I said previously, jsAlign is another of my major everyday tools).

      Reply to Grim,

The terrain has to be larger than the road plus the shoulder width. So I scaled up the terrain slightly to get it to work. But it made kind of a bumpy road. That's because the road precision was much tighter than the terrain spacing - which makes the road follow the coarse terrain. So in the next copy, I reduced the precision of the road by changing the "adjust number of curve segments" parameter from "3x" to "same as input" and the road was less bumpy. Try turning on hidden lines to see what I mean.

As for "try before buy", all that pro does is let you make a few things wider - everything else is the same. So please see if you like it first. (And can figure out all my cryptic parameters)

      Chuck

Thank you, Chuck. I had the same introductory problems as Grim: the attached revised skp reallymade it clear.
      Great tool: purchase in-work.

and that differs 16 bucks worth from standard move ??
      i don't get it. πŸ˜• ❓

I use Alt-N shortcut. I press Alt-N, put in exactlyhow far I want to move, press an arrow key (Ctrl-arrow key for up and down), and, bingo.
And it does not have to be a group or component.

      That's how it's different.

Nudge by Todd Burch (it's on Smustard).

It's $16.00, but worth every penny (It was $8.00 when I bought it back in 2006 😎). It's old, but, for me, very useful every day.

I tried "moveit", but it only works on groups and components (at least when I tried it).

Oh, I thought it was the top three categories 😎

Seriously, the top three depend heavily on what project I'm working on. But since you've busted me here are my

      top three non-project-dependent rubies:

One can select all entities that has material with the same colour.

That's what I don't know how to do: If I could select all the entities with the same color and then isolate only those entities I could see which ones had the "wrong" color so I could change it.

I've just downloaded "Default Layer Geometry": I really need that and it will undoubtedly become one of my frequently used plugins (I just must keep everything on layer 0 until everything is built!)

I have many of the complex plugins that are indispensable when I need them (curviloft, vertex tools, Tools on Surface, Extrude Along....,etc.), but

      For every day general use:
Nudge (Doesn't anyone use this: I'd be lost without it.)
      Options
      JSAlign
      Layer Tools and Layer Manager
      Edge Styles
      1001bit Tools

And, somewhat less often, but still a lot:
      Round Corner
      Profile Builder
      BZ Toolbar
      Weld
      Extrude Lines
      Arc Centerpoint Finder
      Tube along path

      For final tuning:
      Repaint and Cleanup

And, of course, when the model is ready:
      Thea Exporter
