Bert

Massaro / Charoudi by FLW
Some time ago Kwistenbiebel made me curious with his renderings of the Massaro house by Flank Lloyd Wrighton Lake Mahopac. He made the design of th house some 55 years ago but untill recently it was not realised.
I consider the design as one of the best waterfront houses I know.
After research on the net for more information I made an optimised SU model from the one I found in the Warehouse (thank you) and post some preliminary pictures here
Suggestions are welcome

RE: SU on Notebook
Hi Stuartb,
I use a Sony Vaio VGN-AR ,on the move and in my office,
Intel CORE 2 CPU, T5600, 1,83GHz, 2 GB and a NVIDA GForce GO 7600,
I have no problems unless it's a litlle heavy with it's 17" screen, but I need this size for presentations.
It normally works okay but consider my files do not exceed 10Mb.
As office machine I run a Vaio desktop that gives me some problems, but has a 24" screen
Good luck. -
RE: SpaceNavigator?
I've got the same thing since one year now; Gaieus is right the first day is like trying to ride on a bike for the first time in your life and with your eyes closed.
But afterwards , I cannot do without it, makes my SU work significient faster and is quite cheap. -
RE: What do you or the firm you work for specialize in?
After being a partner in an architect-firm I started seven years ago on my own, as an architect/consultant; designing and realisating mostly leisure projects of all kind and size in most countries of Europe.
All kinds of projects, large and small, in- and exterior, mostly the conceptual phases, architectural designs, presentations etc.
Because I am a one-man consultant/architect company ,I have to be able to do every aspect of my work by myself and SU helps a lot.
See my website http://www.syncon.nl

RE: Okay, I'm an idiot....
Beware me to discuss your mental capacities (I have no doubt about them) but the basic way you start in SU depends on the structure oif the project
Straight forward plans : start with an elevation or take a box and push/pull
If it's more complex (see my villa 1992) it is almost impossible to do it in another way as the old fashion
Start with the plans, add information about levels and details and don't forget to save each level for a structural vieuw
Like Edson said, it is the way we learned and still think about the process. Obviously it has something to do with the order of various priorities in your design
I have some years experience in houses and interiors, most of them quite complex and this brings me to my (humble) opinion
BTW I like these discussions, so go on, please

RE: Villa 1992
did u import the plans from autocad or something or did u do this all in SU from the word Go???
No import; just started in SU included all 3 floors because I plan to make the interior (stairwell is nice) too in the next weeks
Because the house is on a waterfront I plan also a front vieuw with mirrored image on the water
Just wait and see..
No Ross, Sorry, the owner doesn't like pictures of his living on the Internet
Thanks for the comments

Villa 1992
I had a little time left so I made a presentation in SU from this plan for a villa, our office actually build in 1992.
Needless to say it took me only 25% of the time we needed back in the old days
Comments are welcome and...
Tom, thanks again for some very nice trees

RE: Tree study...
Thank you, Tom, very nice indeed.
I was looking some time for this style of 'accessoires'
Am I free to use them considering that copiing is a true form of admiration?
Happy New Year -
RE: Logitech NuLOOQ navigator
Isn't about the same as my 3D Navigator?
It is already a very usefull tool in SU;

Well done, Mateo
I like this way of presentation, very professional and convincing

RE: Introduction non-newbie
Yes Eric, Podium
in a early fase of the project with almost no experience in rendering
It occurred to me that a picture doesn't hsve to be perfect to have some impact even to the client
He liked it (on the cover of the presentation) and we worked it out to the main entrance design
Glad you like it
