    • RE: Housebuilder

I have Mac OS X 10.11.6; SU Make 17; with TIG's modified HB for Metric.

Problem 1: My HB doesn't have the Windows & Doors tool like the videos I watched. What I have is Wall, Gable Wall, Roof & Floor.

Does anyone know where I can get the HB (mac, metric) that has these features?

Problem 2: Additionally, from a previous thread I downloaded the timber sizes file posted by another contributor, as I am also in Oz and realised that the timber sizes I am using are not available on the list, but I don't know where I could install the file. This program is like a fiat with a sealed engine. I can't see the folder structure with components. Is there a way I could upload the file somehow with in the program like I did with the plugin through Extension Manager?

RED BUTTON to upload your plugin!
      I DID IT!!!! πŸ˜†

I have spent all day trying to do this. So I will share my learnings. I started with a Google search: Plugin Extension HouseBuilder How to install, a sketch up community link forum populates. With user posts circa 2015. This is important, scroll down until to find contributor: Tig -- the Sketchup God, he post a link to the HouseBuilder plugin, which I understand he went in and recoded a fix.

      Ok, here is the breakdown.

(FYI I'm using MacBook Pro running OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 with SketchUp Make 2017-- FOR METRIC--thanks TIG)

Step 1: Download TIG's HouseBuilder. This is not as simple as meets the eye. You must get TIG's improved version of HouseBuilder. As TIG is a contributor to SKETCHUCATION.COM you must go there and create an account. This is were I wasted a lot of time. I created a log in and simply tried to click on TIG's link. I got nothing! Hours later, much desperation. I started over at the google search (mentioned above) and followed TIG's hyperlink to SketchUcation.com, LOGGED IN BEFORE PROCEEDING, and then followed the link TIG posted here for METRIC. Note: there are two, one is a ZIP other is RBZ, I took the second. It landed in my DOWNLOADS. Lesson the link came up as broken even though I was logged into SketchUcation. If, this happens log out start over.

Step 2: Open Sketchup. Go to WINDOW >EXTENSION MANAGER, note HouseBuilder is not visible here, click the red button INSTALL EXTENSION, you will get pop-up to navigate to your DOWNLOADS folder, yay... almost there. select your recent download house builder.

    • RE: Installing Housebuilder on Mac OSX

I'm trying to install HouseBuilder on my MacBook Pro running OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 for SketchUp Make 2017. Looking at your image above, I don't have access to the component files like you have.

      See my screen shot:
      Screen Shot 2017-09-26 at 2.27.40 PM.png

Accessed via MacIntosh HD/Applications/SketchUp .... I can only click on icon to launch program. Maybe I'm particularly lacking in abilities and am doing something terribly wrong. ....So how shall I place the file extension?

    • HouseBuilder 2 install metric on OS X 10.11.6 on SUMake 2017

I have been reading forums all day trying to find out how to install this plugin. I have downloaded the file from Ruby Library Depot, HouseBuilder v.5 -- I understand where this file comes from has been a big issue, but where I see this mentioned in threads the link is always a dud.

I see the issue of renaming a .rb file to a .rbz file extension... I can't even see a .rb file to consider attempting this step.

And I thought I would bring this subject up afresh because some of the discussions are going back 10 years.Which is likely why I am having trouble following old instructions. For example: for mac users (metric) go to Library/Application Support/and then the instructions break down as I don't have the listed folders: Google Sketchup 8...

or the one about how installing this plugin is the same on both PC & Mac, and instructions are listed for PC: SU preferences/ ...and nothing resembling exists on Mac. for following steps.

      I am very dreadfully stuck.
