    • RE: Plugin to flatten and distribute groups onto a plane

I downloaded Sketchup 2013, and that fixed it. I hate that Slicer5 does a better job, but I have already paid for SliceModeler v1.4, although I cannot seem to find the download link for it. I have been playing around with version 1.3. Thanks for your help.

    • RE: Plugin to flatten and distribute groups onto a plane

I tried Slicer5 as you suggested, but I am having the same problem with it as I had with SliceModeler. With both of these the last option is to create a flattened copy of the slices, but it does nothing when I press yes.Otherwise it works great for the intended purposes.

    • Plugin to flatten and distribute groups onto a plane

Googling this question either returned the unfold tool, or a discussion on flattening 3-D objects so that they look like floor plans. I do not wish to do either of those. I wish to take several different separately grouped objects and lay them down spaced out on the same axis. Much like the layout of objects that will be cut on a CNC machine. The grouped objects I am using were produced using the SliceModeler plugin. They are not completely flat, in a 2-D sense, I just want to lay them flat on a 3-D axis. The gap produced by SliceModeler requires some depth in each slice to make the pieces interlock. Is there a plugin that can help me do this?

    • RE: Hours of sunlight plugin

I watched this video on youtube of Chronolux 1.2
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GE6Zc5jqhbc
It was so close to what I wanted that it made me laugh in a "did they just read my mind?" kind of way. The different colors, and the example with a contour looking map made my eyes pop! Thank you Chris for pointing me towards this plugin. I really could not have asked for a better answer.

    • Hours of sunlight plugin

Is there a plugin that can determine the hours of sunlight that shines on different areas of a landscape, or a place to request such a plugin? I would like to plan out the placement of plants in a yard based on the number of sunlight hours each area receives. TIG's ShadowProjector plugin does something close to what I want. If it projected the shadows for an entire day (maybe every half hour) with the shadows overlapping. I tried overlapping shadows with this plugin, but it doesn't seem to work. If you could overlap the shadows, and then add 30 minutes for every time a shadow overlapped, and somehow label it with the sum of the shadow hours subtracted from total sunlight hours in a day. (possibly like the elevation is done on a contour map) it would be perfect. This would be invaluable in determining what types of plants to place in different areas based on their light requirements.

    • RE: Draping an object over another

Does this plugin maintain the original dimensions of the object being draped? I am trying to determine the amount of material I would need to vacuum form plastic over an object. Thank you for the advice.

    • Draping an object over another

I find the built in drape tool to be more of a projection tool. Where it projects a pattern onto an irregular surface. Is there a plugin that would for example take a 2 dimensional plain and drape it over a 3 dimensional surface like you would see if you threw a blanket over a soccer ball? Thanks!

    • Need help with dynamic model

As usual when you think you have something finished a bug is found. I downloaded a model from the 3d warehouse, and attempted to make it dynamic. It seems to work exactly as planned until I enter the number 12 in the NumberOfRacks section of the Components option dialogue box. Then I only get 11 racks. It works fine when I enter 11 and 13. If anyone would care to take a look at it you can find it here: http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=b313851cdf642864ffdd141d4f473266&result=4 Thank you.

    • RE: Objects translucent on zoom out

Thank you Gaieus. The Shift + Eraser Tool trick helped to hide most of it.

You can see what I am referring to in the circled portions.
