      Hi all,

I found this post on the google groups from nov. of 07, when searching for a way to import a group of materials into sketchup. I installed the ruby and it shows up under my plugins drop down. Problem is I cant get it to work. Does anyone have any experience with this particular plugin??? The genesis of my problem is the need for a bunch of sketchy type materials for a black and white presentation i'm preparing in Layout. I was only able to find a set of jpg's hence my need to convert them to .skm files.

      "QUESTION:
Is there a way to automate a bulk add of a JPG library to the
SKM library? I've got several hundred material texture images and it
would be tedious to convert them by hand one by one.

      ANSWER:
Use the ruby script Mass Material Importer
      http://www.crai.archi.fr/RubyLibraryDepot/Ruby/massmaterialimporter.rb.
to place an entire folder of images into your In-Model library, which
you can then save with Save As Library. You'll probably have to tweak
      the scales on the images."

      Thanks for any help!!

    • RE: .tiff export problem

Sorry it took me a couple of days to get back. Surprise birthday party put me in "summer" mode real quick. No worries with the .tiff stuff. I was able to work around it, and all the info i was able to find said that .png was a better format anyway. i'm in good shape now. I just wish i was better at post processing. I've been busting my butt on some of the tutorials posted - but i was trying to use GIMP rather than PS to really no avail. I think i'm going to return this GIMP how to book and just shell out the dough for PS. Its just easier to work around - no bugs. I'm not trying to be a programer, just a proficient designer. LOL!

      Anyway thanks for the trys.

      Hi all,

Last night i was able to export .tiffs of my model at a width setting of 5200 ppi with no problem. Today, after creating a few more scenes in hopes of imitating the 'dennis' technique, i cant export didley squat! I've tried as low as 3000 ppi width - NO DICE.

I just tried a .png export at 5200 ppi width and it worked - i might just try to use this file rather than wasting time trying to figure out why it wont export as a .tiff anymore.

      Thanks for the help.

nope, in fact i didnt have it on in the first place. The only thing i changed to the model was that i added a few scenes with saved styles.

      Eureka! 😍

I just forgot the simple task of resetting the axes to its original position.

      All is well now.

      Thanks again for your help!

Remus and Mirjman - thank you for your assistance. I used the align view work around and it worked fine. But for the future could you tell me what i was doing wrong. I uploaded my model to the warehouse. The link is below. I've never uploaded anything before so if the link doesnt work please let me know.

      Thanks again.

    • RE: Fixing default views

Its weird, i had to change my axis' earlier in my modeling for some reason or another - now whenever i hit the standard views the model is juxtaposed. I have the camera set to parallel projection but the view is still way off. I've attached the file to illustrate what i mean. If you hit one of the views you'll see the juxtaposition. The front view should be the wall with the Amwell signage. Let me know what you think - if you dont mind.

      Thanks.

I'm having a problem with my default views. Does anyone know how to set the default views, ie ISO, TOP, FRONT, RIGHT, BACK, LEFT to a current model??

      Thanks.

When i display shadows, my model looks as though its floating or hovering over the ground. How do i anchor it?

    • Push/Pull Question

Probably a simple question: How come sometimes when i push/pull a face the original face disappears and i have to draw an edge to make it reappear, and other times the tool seemingly works properly with the original face staying visible after the command?

      Thanks.

Thank you very much for the explanation. It was extremely helpful in teaching me the right way to do it.

Here's an update of the model with a little more depth to the right side of the front facade. One line can do so much!

    • RE: PROBLEM W/ INTERSECTING ROOF PLANES

Thanks for the input. But unfortunately, i'm still having problems. I watched the podcast and used their method - very informative, but it didnt work for this roof. As far as the script goes, i looked for it at smustard.com, but couldnt find it. Am i looking in the right place? I even tried altering the axis' to orient them along the lines of one of the roof planes, again no luck.

I attached the basic model with the roof in question (above the stair tower) shown within its context. I'd like for the stair tower roof to have about a 24" overhange at its point, it should protrude out and up, slope down and away from either side of the midpoint. You'll see i dont even have it coming to a point, nor does it intersect the roof behind properly.

      Thank you for the help.

    • PROBLEM W/ INTERSECTING ROOF PLANES

      Hello All,

This is my first post, but I've been reading them for awhile. I'm a architectural designer using sketch-up to model my ideas. I've used the programs during the conception phases of a few projects, but I do not nearly possess the capability of some of the advanced users i've seen on this forum. I'm running Pro if that helps.

❓ Problem: I am having a heck of a time trying to intersect these two roof planes. I just want the top planes to connect same as the bottom planes. Think Star Wars Imperial Star Destroyer - sorry saw the movie over the weekend.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

      Thank you.

      Cheers.
