RE: The 'ICEtrek' Google Earth game (Beta) - We need your help
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
In the normal ICEvision app, you can adjust the speed. If and when this gets fully released, we will have controls for speed!
Anything you would like to see in ICEtrek?

Solidworks to Sketchup
Hey
Sorry if this has been asked before. We want to try and import solidworks files into sketchup (and then bring them into our app) is this possible? Has anybody got any experience in doing this before?
Thanks!

RE: The 'ICEtrek' Google Earth game (Beta) - We need your help
Hey all!
Really sorry for the delay in this one, I've been out of the office soaking up the Canadian sunshine!
Thank you all for your feedback, because it's in beta it can be temperamental at times, but (as always) we are working on updating and improving it. You guys (as always ) will be the first to see!
Aceshigh - you mention you would like to see some Brazilian monuments in there! That's no problem. I've been told that if you can supply us a few decent models (you might have some favorites from the warehouse) we can make a Brazil ICEtrek for all to see!! and its great to read what use you could find for the game! Hopefully the Brazilian Education Ministry will get to see our Brazilian ICEtrek one day!
Thanks again guys!

The 'ICEtrek' Google Earth game (Beta) - We need your help
Hey All
Some of you may be familiar with our application, ICEvision. It captures your Sketchup pro model into a 3D video gaming world, and better yet, allows you to securely share your model around the world!
One of our developers has created this awesome game which allows you to fly around Google earth (embedded in your browser) and hunt for clues using ICEvision. But I think the best way to explain it is for you to have a go yourself!
http://www.ice-edge.com/icetrek/iceworld.html
You will need to make sure you have the plug-ins on the left of the page (and don't worry non firefox users, it should work fine) and read the instructions before clicking the 'click here' button to start playing.
This is very much in the testing phase, so please let me know what you think, any suggestions, criticisms, ideas, we want to here it all
Enjoy!

RE: A bit of World Cup fun
Thank you! ha ha yes! Me too, I challenge anybody to get through more than 30seconds of the second video.
It was quite possibly England's worst display, I think changes are being made for Wednesday! something needs to be done. It starts at 8am here, we need to win otherwise I'm going to have a bad day

RE: A bit of World Cup fun
I responded to my video with a new edited video as a request from a colleague of mine.

RE: A bit of World Cup fun

RE: Massive model problem
Hey all
Really sorry for not getting back to you sooner, I've been offline for a little while.
You guys really helped, we turned a few things off as Thom suggested and turning off unused materials helped alot too! I'm sorry I didn't send over the file, it's a client file and it was best I checked with them first (I still haven't heard back from them) If I can, I will send the unedited model over and let you guys go to work on it
Thank you!

A bit of World Cup fun
Hey Everybody!
All enjoying the World Cup?
I've been playing around with Camtasia and our application recently and wanted to create something World cup themed! Google added the stadiums a little while back and I compiled this video using the models.
Let me know what you think? Any thing I should do for the next video?

Thanks
Oh, and come on England!

RE: Massive model problem
Thanks Thom, I'm going to try and turn off a few of these features if they are on. I'm currently waiting nearly a minute to hit the file drop down
I'm not sure what the graphics card is in that machine but I know it's pretty good. I will get our IT department to make sure everything is up to date!
Thanks again, I will let you know what happens!

Massive model problem
Hey All,
I have a model which contains a couple of houses, some trees, cars, people etc and it's all built up to be about 70mb of data! I don't know if this is a lot, but now when i try and open the model its just slows the PC down to a near standstill. Here's the exciting bit, I'm trying to open it on a duel quad core PC and its still slow!!!
Is there any way to make this model smaller without destroying it?
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!

Hey!
Thank you to all those who signed up for the competition. We really learned alot about our application thanks to all the feedback we received, but want to learn some more!
I have compiled a quick survey which I would really appreciate if you could take the time to answer. It shouldn't take a minute and..
(heres the best bit)
You could win a 3Dconnexion Space navigator just for filling it in!
The winner will be picked at random, but please be as totally honest as you can. Just make sure you add your email address in at the end.

The new and improved - ICEvision
Hey All
Today is an exciting day here at ICE HQ. We have just released a brand new version of our ICEvision application which is adding some more wow to the wow we already have
Here is a quick description of ICEvision for those have havenβt had the chance to look at it yet!
ICEvision turns your Sketchup model into a full 3D interactive environment. You can navigate just like a video game, create scenes and environments and share then your model as many times as you like to as many people as you can. Check out the website, http://www.icevisioncloud.com
or better yet, take a look at an ICEvision in action! http://icevisioncloud.com/viewer.jsf?mkey=15e3b77ea7b9862b27c7169f0e3037a8 Press the play button for the tour!
**Here are just a few of the new features we added to ICEvision-
We joined the Cloud server β ICEvision is much faster and you can upload & share unlimited models!
-
We added some sky β People who have seen ICEvision before will know that their model often floated around space. Well, with help from a Sketchucation member, we have added a sky hemisphere, a sphere and a image wall which you can add your own textures too or use the ICEvision color palette
-
We added music β Youβve made your model, youβre flying in 3D and youβve added some sky. Now itβs time to give your model a rockinβ tune. but remember, do not share copyrighted material!**
Fancy trying it out for yourself? Register at http://www.icevisioncloud.com with the promo code free430 and you can get started straight away!
We also have a tutorial to ICEvision here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANuh7E4sBUc , it will help you get started and it also shows the new features in action!
Us guys and girls at ICE really appreciate the support and feedback sketchucation users give us. It helps us progress and hopefully ICEvision will help you progress as modelers too. Keep the feedback and suggestions coming and we will try our hardest to make it happen!
Iβm looking forward to seeing your ICEvisions!

It's here! Now when you log onto http://www.icevisioncloud.com you are able to add sky domes, spheres and walls with a choice of colors, textures, gradient and even your own images! its so much fun. Infact, the sky you can see in Cyberdactyl's model is ICEvision sky. I'm glad you spotted it!
and that's not all folks (said in my best tv ad voice)
You can even add your own MP3's to the model! Just remember, if you are going to share them with anyone to not use copyrighted material.
We created a little youtube video as a quick tutorial and to show you how to add the new features. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANuh7E4sBUc

RE: SketchUvision Competition for Sketchup Pro users
Hey Everybody!
So we are just waiting for the rest of the site to be updated. Sorry again for the delay! The winners have been decided and I thought I'd announce them over here instead
We didn't get the response we would have hoped for, so we only have 3 of the prizes up for grabs, the 4th prize will used in a spin off competition you will receive information about shortly!
Drum roll..
1st Prize goes to
D12dozr with this fantastic ICEvision!
http://icevisioncloud.com/viewer.jsf?mkey=c63806b6a19b3bb359d49e03f1cdd920
and a very close 2nd Prize goes to
M.YAQOUB with another fantastic ICEvision!
http://icevisioncloud.com/viewer.jsf?mkey=711070c844dc4f865510d15c3d018c0d
and the 3rd prize is a very honorable mention.
Cyberdactyl created such an awesome model in sketchup, that 32bit ICEvision couldn't handle its greatness! Our tech guys here have now managed to get it into ICEvision, but is too big for you to have a true ICEvision experience so we will create a video instead! We believe that is worthy of a prize
If you could email me (anolloth@ice-edge.com) your address details, I will get the prizes shipped too you asap!
Congratulations all and thank you to everybody who signed up!! Everybody who signed up will have another chance to win a mouse. Watch this space!
