RE: USS CrappyPrise
I actually adapted this from a blender tutorial. A guy modelled the enterprise with simple shapes. But then I got stuck with the bridge, don't know how to make the shuttle pay part. Don't know how to make the weird shapes on the end of the nacelles... cut out the round are at the bottom of the hull with a disc, which feels like the wrong way to do it.

USS CrappyPrise
I got tired of box modeling simple things, so I tried the Enterprise. I pretty much reached the limits of what I can do with simple shapes. I have no idea how to all the complicated stuff.

RE: How to do this?
I'll give it a try. I can make boxes just fine but these more complicated things are tearing me apart.

How to do this?
I just can't figure out how to do this. I can do the basic flat shape but have no clue how to make it otherwise.
As you can see, it's round shaped.

RE: My crappy models look better rendered.
This is based on a design I found online, which I altered a lot.
A friend of mine wants to use it in some thing he's doing, and asked me to try and finish it. So I took up the challenge and I'm going to actually try to finish it.

RE: My crappy models look better rendered.
More failing. But at least progress. I have yet to finish anything. I just keep thinking of how I can't do anything but basic shapes and boxes and give up.

Is this a X-wing carrier?
No, it's if an x-wing humped a B5 shuttle and a space above an beyond APC.
Michael, you really do need to stop beating yourself up and give yourself credit for what you can do. Even the best modelers here all had to learn their craft from scratch.
I see nothing wrong with your model, nothing at all, and I've certainly seen a lot worse.Just remember to make use of these forums - ask questions, lot of them. Without the advice and help from the many talented modelers here I would have given up long ago.
Bravo for posting it, hope to see more of your work!
I have nothing but questions.

I think you are being too hard on yourself. What you are missing is another level of detail and texturing.
The easiest things are hard for me and I have no idea how to make complicated shapes.

My crappy models look better rendered.
Yeah, so I suck at this and can't make anything more complicated than a box so try not to laugh hard. I based it on a design I found on google.

What have you illustrated? I think you'll have to use words. All I see is a rendered space ship image. I can't tell what you're asking for.
I don't know the technical term for it.
Curving... like that.
Oh. Well, where to start? It would be a good idea to know what you know about using SketchUp first.
I'm tired of making box shapes cylinders and lathes.
Trying to move on.
