      Easy rounded rectangles only with 'Pro' version?

      What you are looking at is referring to LayOut which is an application that only comes with the pro version. It isn't drawing rectangles with round corners in SketchUp, though. You can draw them in SketchUp free the same way as you would draw them in SketchUp pro. You draw a rectangle and the use the Arc tool to add the round overs. There's a tool in TIG's 2D tools that makes it quick but this is a basic excercise in SketchUp and one should know how to do it manually.

      Naturally, you can create 3D with SketchUp...and then use rendering software to produce a photoreal effect or add reflective and lighting effects. Personally however, if I was considering software simply to produce 3D icons, I'd probably use RealDraw. It's vector based, just like SU...but it's much easier to produce a wide range of graphic effects right out of the box.
