    • RE: Looking for topic about transparency?

      Hi!

I'm not getting a correct shadow from the transparency texture!? This is how I do, please tell me if something is wrong.

In Photoshop CS4 I create two images. The first i the image with all white areas gone, so it is transparent. I save it.

Next I make a copy of the image an fill black to all areas on the image that I want to be visible, the rest is filled with white color. Both images are saved as .png files.

In Sketchup I import the main image as an texture and put it on a surface, but perhaps this is why I get a complete shadow from the surface of the geometry?! I also tried to import as image and let it stand alone in the scene, but this also created a "box" looking shadow!?

In vray the alpha channel image is placed in the tranparency slot as a texbitmap. It all look good in the preview dispite if "Use color texture for transparency" is enabled or not!

      What is made wrong? Thanks!

    • Looking for topic about transparency?

      Hi,

I remeber that I have seen a topic(like a tutorial) about how to create trees or humans in Photoshop as .png files and then make them transparency in Vray? I can't find it now?

My background is still visible when I render a tree despite that I have a black image shape of the tree in the transparency slot!? And I can't get the image to be transparency in sketchup?! Should it be imported as texture or image?

      Preciate som help! Thanks!

    • Possible to control reflection?

      Hi!

Let's say I have house with reflecting window glass on it. The house is standing on a simple white surface that is reflected on to the window glass.
Is it possible to "switch off" so that the material on the ground don't give away reflections?

Thanks and a Happy New Year!

    • RE: Problem with displacementmap

The strange thing is that it is like random. Sometimes the preview is OK in the material editor, but not when render. Sometimes preview is totally flat, but green, in the material editor preview. Sometimes the preview in the texture editor fails, just gray, despite that I load the diffuse image at the ... !?

      My version is 1.48.

    • Problem with displacementmap

      Hi,

Despite that grass with displacement map looks like spikes, I like to use it sometimes. But it doesn't always work! I always have to load the diffuse map, and when I make a preview in the texture editor is either gray(nothing) or the image of a pice of grass and then it often works. Sometimes it's impossible to make a preview in the material editor, due to some loading problem with the diffuse, despite that you do it manually. Why is it like this? Preciate some help, because it's so irritating that it only works sometimes! Thanks!

    • RE: Spot on surface?

Hmm....this was complicated! I have tested all kinds of values and I'm a little bit confused about the min and max rate? Will a min max value of -3 0 produce a better image, then with a min max value of -2 0 ?

It looks like if I increase sample, the facade don't get crispy and sharp, correct?

I still have problems with the spots.

Yes, it's irradiance map. I increased the HSph.subdiv from 30 to 100, but the result was the same. Should I increase more?

      @unknownuser said:

(what is you max / min rate btw? and resolution you render in?)

Do you mean the basic parameters? Min Rate -3 Max Rate -1. Resolution 1280 x 960.

Is it better to use Photon map instead of Irradiance? I need to learn more about this, where could I learn more? Any good books or tutorials?

      Thanks!
