Thank you so much!
Is there also a way using a form of this command to display ALL of the commands whether they use a keystroke or not?
Gary
To kmead,
Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you !
I use a PC and have been trying to find these for months. I have just opened the file and haven't done anything yet, but WOW! My dreams have come true. Now I can see what commands are available without having to use the little screen in Windows/preferences/shortcuts on the PC.
The file location on the PC is the following.
Harddrivename:\Users\Yourname\AppData\Roaming\SketchUp\SketchUp 2013\LayOut\shortcuts.xml
OOPS! The following example of Cntl N is the layout for all the keystrokes, listed in a column.
<Shortcut action="fileNew" key="78" modifier="8"/>
78 may be the ascii value of the key, it's been a while since I used Ascii values for coding. The modifier is a mystery as the usual modifiers are Cntl - ALT - Shift - in the Preferences.dat file they are listed as
000 or 100 or 010 or 001 for - not used - Cntl - Alt - Shift - and then any combination.
I am still happy about this, maybe someone will come to assist the PC users with this.
Gary
PS - the key = is an ASCII character N in this case - I assume that the modifier 8 is cntl
that only leaves 12 and 40 to be Alt and Shift - this may be ALL the std eystrokes
that have been defined - I can't find any *.xml files early July
Hello,
I am a Sketchup newbie - I now have v2013 Pro. Since v8 free I have been trying unsuccessfully to be able to print all of the assigned command keystrokes. I know that I can print the standard sheet but I want to know what are the assigned keystrokes that I have assigned so that I can print them, as my memory isn't the best.
There is a utility at the bottom of the Windows/Preferences/Shortcuts screen to export the assigned commands to file called Shortcuts.dat. I have added a bunch of command keystrokes and deleted a couple of the standard ones. Before I just reinstalled Pro 2013 I only got a file with 20 keystrokes when I exported Preference.dat. I just imported that same file from the beginning of July 2013 and then exported it with no changes to the keystrokes and I get 33 keystrokes commands back, most of what I assigned but only a few of the standard ones.
Is there anything out there that would allow ALL OF THE COMMANDS to be exported to a file. Then the keystrokes could be changed or added and sent back to SketchUp?
This would allow us to have control of what keystrokes we have and what commands are available. Apparently SU is working on this problem, as the 33 keystrokes showed up from the 20 loaded back - I assume that the data file for the keystrokes was kept even after I uninstalled and reinstalled v2013 Pro. This just seems so simple for them to do. So far I only have about 30 changes and additions that I would like to make. I am amazed at the available commands listed in that screen and the power that they offer. As it is it would take days to go through the commands just to find out what's there and how to add or modify them!
I hope that this is not too far off topic.
Gary
thanks very much for your speedy reply. It turns out that I misunderstood the commands that the link was about. I am interested in finding a way of listing all of the commands from sketchup pro in order to create a file that I could then edit to add keystrokes to the required commands without having to do it at each command line in preference keystrokes.
Maybe 2013 will make this easier, who knows!
Anyway, thanks again.
I'm glad that I bought Pro and that I joined this forum.
Gary
Tig,
The links in your reply don't work, error 404. Is there another set of links that I can access?
Gary
WOW! This is excellent. I want to do exactly what is described above.
Is there any way of finding a file that has all of the commands listed that aren't defined by keywords.
Thanks for the wonderful information.
WOW!
I just installed your installer and I can now load all the .rb scripts that I couldn't before. I'm new to Sketchup and the ruby script thing was crazy - can't load .rb files - now I can.
Wonderful, thanks so much!
Gary
