Voice activated Sketchup - it's here
-
Yeah, I'd most probably be afraid of the computer understanding when I say "stupid computer" (or even "nicer" things that these English speakers cannot even imagine )
-
Hi
99 $ for THAT ????
I've tried such tools in the past with other softwares, they've always been a waste of time, compared to shortcuts and keyboard inputs. -
Yeah, it is a bit phoney. Did you watch the demo? It doesn't appear to make modelling any faster. It must be useful for people with disabilities though. I also thought it might be useful for education or demonstrations on a projector.
-
hehe, as I don't mutter enough when I work
-
Can you imagin an architecture firm where a bunch of people are talking to their PC while modeling?....
It's slow to.The only benefit I can see is for people with a handicap that can only use a mouse replacement device, using their voice for keyboard related actions (VCB, etc...).
-
it supports semicolon and comma and it needs a training stage to learn your voice but still keyboard is way faster (and why a 44mb download for an installed 3mb program ?)
unless you want to have fun saying the same thing on the microphone - "push pull you stupid computer !"
-
I tried it ages ago and although it worked OK'ish I felt a complete idiot sitting at my desk spasmodically saying "LINE", "PULL", "ARC", "UNDO", "UNDO", "UNDO" etc.
-
I always listen to music while I'm working.
Apart from not being able to listen to the music properly, I imagine problems would occure when you have lyrics like:
"There's a fine line between love and facination"
or
"I wont let them push me around"
or
"You move me with a smile"It's a good thing there aren't too many songs with the word "delete" in them .
-
He he
...I hope you don't have any song containg the word 'crash' or 'splat'...

Yes I can. I'm one of them people. And that's without any voice activation software.
-
This is funny! "PUSH". If commands can be customised and substituted, you can even say "SHOVE" (move), "ROLL" (orbit or rotate), and bark away at you computer (pun intended).

I remember back in the days of AutoCAD 10....at work once I was so frustrated I pounded on the "ESC" key so hard I nearly shoved it through the keyboard. I wonder if you can train this software to to understand sarcasm. as in "Yeah that's right I wanted you to extrude the wall 10,000 feet... No really leave it there it looks fine.
hehe. As if my wife did not think I was mental enough wait till she hears me talking to the computer. Soon enough two big guys with a nice white jacket with really long sleeves will be visiting me.
