I've been using Sketchup for about a year, most of the model's I make are for Second Life but it is just a hobby for me!
I have had the disappointment of dealing with a small group of vigilantes in the wharehouse who are cyber bullying people but other than that I have enjoyed using sketchup!
I look forward to learning new things here and will be around to help others who I may be able to.

As you may know, there is also a Woodworking subforum here, that you can access.
Personally, I would not completely abandon the pencil. I am always sketching on paper some ideas to model in Sketchup. I imagine that many others also do this.

I'm a total newby to SU, having just downloaded the free version this week. I found SketchUcation at the same time I found SU in Google searches while seeking software to use for home/room/landscape design. I have no background in drafting/design, but sure want to learn!
I'm a homeowner looking to learn to use SU to model my current home in order to try on various remodeling ideas, as we are looking to update/renovate the house and landscape. My hope is to learn SU to the point that I can also design our next home.
Nice to find this forum and all of you with such skills!

Here, it is really up to you how much you learn. I suggest to go through the manual and some video tutorials but whenever you are stuck, do not be shy to ask.

Joined a few days ago with a view towards gaining greater proficiency in SU and Layout. I have used SU for about six months now, initially as a quick comparison between it and other 3D drawing platforms like Revit/Archicad and subsequently decided to stick with SU. I just started using Layout on a friends computer and like the interface.
I also noticed that SU Pro is available at a discount from Sketchucation (for Premium Members) and would like to purchase the Pro (Mac)version - However my emails to Sketchucation to purchase a copy have thus far gone unanswered. Any help in this regard would be appreciated.
I am recently retired and am in the process of designing a retirement home using SU, hence the request for help in purchasing a copy of SU Pro.

I'm Stephen, more commonly known as Beezer... I'm from Ireland and was introduced to sketchup recently during my studies in design and innovation. Have had some experience with solidworks and I'm very impressed with SU with its many plugins.
I'm hoping to become fluent in SU and be able to use it to produce engineering parts with my 3D printer. -

I know I' not in the right thread Rich but like some others I'm having trouble logging in to the Sketchucation store through the plugin. I've tried clearing all browsing data including the cache.
I hope the weathers as good in Munster as here. I'm heading tomorrow morning to Cork for a week in the sun.
