Aetria,
Welcome to the Sketchucation forums! You might take your plugin idea to the "Plugins" Subforum (under the "Resources" Forum). You probably have to restate it (maybe pictures would help) unless someone knows about the other software and that specific feature. People usually post ideas like that as "[REQ]", for "request"--- then someone directs them to a plugin or someone might even create a plugin, if they like your idea Good luck.
Is this for "parametric" manipulation, or do you just want to stretch an object without changing edge dimensions (like making a window wider without widening the frame)?
Peter
Thank you, Pbacot!
Sorry it took so long for me to answer...
I´ll do a research on the plugins subforum
thanks for the tips! i´m still new in this forum stuff hahaWell, what i managed to find about that parametric manipulation is that when you use it you change the whole object, not an specific part of it(that´s what i found, maybe it does something else...)
That exaclty what I wanted to do (the part about the window)! My goal is to be able to edit the component whithout editing all its measures...Thanks again!

Hi there, I'm new. I've dabbled with Sketchup now and again over the years, but never tried to use it for anything practical until now. I'm developing a non-CNC(euphemism for low-tech/low-cost/high-effort) manufacturing process for custom, wood keycaps in my garage as a hobby, and I'm hoping to use Sketchup Free ver. 8 for quick visualizations and making design choices. I came here looking for a specific plugin, but after reading a couple supremely informative threads, I decided this would be a great place to ask questions as they will no-doubt arise in learning the new software. For now, hello, and thanks for just being here you great, big, beautiful online community!

Welcome, and don't hesitate to ask questions!

Hi, I'm starting to look at SU to see if I can interface it into my cabinet program. I wrote it in C++ and would like to use SU as a 3D modeler for the cabinets. Looks like the samples I downloaded from Google's website are pretty thin. Hope to find more examples of how to export files from my app into SU.
I should also say that I have not used SU for any modeling so I am a newbe.

Hi all,
I'm a new user of sketchup, and having used Design Workshop, Autocad, and Solidwork, Sketchup is easy to use. To start out in Sketchup, I resurected some old projects and am trying them out. I'm still going throught he tutorials and stumbling on some operation, but will work on it.
Thanks to Google for this program.Regards, Les Grommon

Hi All. This forum looks awesome. I've just started using SketchUp and absolutely love the community and commercial support for it. I just wanted to say thanks in advance for any stupid questions I may have in the future.
Cheers,

I would say HELLO to all.
First, thanks to administrator Csaba Pozsárkó for facilitating my return to the group after losing my old computer and access data.My name is Elder Cavalcantti, an architect'm brazilian, 31 years old and I met the SketchUp in 2005 when the version 4 was the most used. It was love at first sight. However, I spent years not enjoy what this wonderful forum could offer and also without sharing what I learned.
Well, I guess it is time to start interacting. If possible, I'd like some oldest user inform me where I can read the basic group rules not to break any of them.
I am also the owner and administrator of one of the largest brazilian facebook groups for SketchUp issues. Feel free to visit us.

New to the community and somewhat to Sketchup. Currently using SU8 and downloaded the artisan tools. I am very interested in the ATC training but have looked around and not found any training modules. Could use help on that one. Looking to use this for the development of Model masters to be printed in 3D, then cast in resin production molds.

Hi Brian and welcome (although you're not a "completely" new member)
Anyway, as you can see, there are tons of woodworkers here - even including one of our certified trainers, Dave. Have you looked at our ATC page? http://sketchucation.com/sketchucation-services/authorized-sketchup-training
Granted, it's not too "long" but we figured most of the people would not want to read "long stories". There are those tabs you can go through for some more info - or drop me a PM any time you wish to learn more details.

A big thank you to Glenn Stanton to introduced me to this marvelous site! My interests are acoustics related.

Hi sketchup users,
My name is Jody and I've been using sketchup for just over a year now. I'm only 13 right now, but my hopes are that someday I'll be able to become an architect (not the architects that design normal homes that people live in, the ones that design museums and huge buildings and stuff). I already have a couple of models of buildings that I've made in sketchup. I'm not an advanced user, but I'm familiar with all of sketchup's functions (components, sandbox tools, etc.) and I'm starting to get to know the usefulness of plugins.
Do you guys have any tips/pointers that could help me get a head start on my career, or if not, anything that would be helpful to know for someone like me?
I've also been looking around for a good rendering program that's free (obviously my allowance doesn't cover the 500 dollars you need for a program used by professionals...) so I can start doing some illustrations of my models and possibly submit them into contests. Thanks a lot,
Jody

Hi Jody and welcoem!
I am not an architect myself so I can only suggest "lay" things like always try to keep the end-usrs in mind and place them before your design ideas (I could not convince those practicing old farts here to change their ways of thinking but you are hopefully young enough)
Anyway, free yet powerful rendering application is Kerkythea. It has several "siblings" like Twilight that runs stratight inside SketchUp (and only $ 99 but they even have an educational version if I am not mistaken) or Thea - which a really powerful studio renderer but they can come later. Start with Kerkythea. It is not the easiest to get hold of but can produce beautiful ersults.
Then most of the other rendering apps also have trial versions so you do not need to confine yourself to a single program just because it is free.

Hello
My name is Jerry, I am a new participant in the sketchup train. Looking good so far but so many different avenues to take, where do you recomend starting. I have already pretty much mastered the basic level and I am wanting to model furniture. Shout out to the Cadfather.

Hi all
First of all I'd like to just point out my joy in the overall look and design of these forums, they are truly unique and reflect the simple nature of Sketchup.
I've just recently started using Sketchup 8 Pro for work. My aim is to do a few courses to bring me up to speed. I aim to combine my Photoshop skills with SU to add value for the comapany I am working for.
Having played around with SU over the past week I've noticed how addictive it is to use. My crazy mind mixed with this program produces all types of creations haha. Anyway hope to learn alot from you all and give back as much.
Cheers

Hello Admin
I recently purchased Interior Design Course 4 book by Adriana Grandos. Unfortunately when I was downloading it, my machine crashed. On all of the other books I downloaded, I was sent an email by Apache with a link to download the book, but I didnt get one on this. I have proof of payment should it be required.
How is best to go about resolving this issue
Many thanks
Jerry
