Maybe @fredo6 can shed some light on this.

In the meantime if you open the Ruby Console and copy any errors that appear there. Share those errors messages here.

Also run the Window > Libfredo Settings > Fredo6 Plugins Information for Sketchucation Support menu command and copy/paste that info here too.

Hi, what I found out is that when I reverted back to 2.8 the small toolbar which I can use to open materials browser was also not appearing. I had to downgrade the LibFredo as well to be able to use the plugin.

My ruby console shows no errors at all.

        Plugins Information:

Only thing that stands out is you are using an outdated Sketchucation Tools which could lead to licensing issues. I'd suggest upgrading.

But if you open the Ruby Console while using ThruPaint it may output error messages that would also be helpful when @fredo6 see this thread.

I updated Sketchucation Tools, no improvement. The Ruby console is blank all the time, no errors there.

On Mac, you MUST change the material via ThruPaint, not via the Sketchup Material browser, unlike what you can do on Windows. This is a limitation on Mac that has always been there.
o, just click on the multi-color button to display the ThruPaint material browser and select another material.

Hi, I know this, but that is exactly the point, there is no multicolor button, there is no "small toolbar" that used to be in the left upper corner before i upgraded to libFredo 15.9d

When you start ThurPaint, what do you get on the screen?

Have you seen the movie I attached to the first post? When I open it for the first time I get ThruPaint Material browser, but then when it dissapears there is no way to revoke it. Before I updated LibFredo there used to be a small ThruPaint toolbar with multi-color button used to revoke The Material Browser. Now there is no way to change the material, search for materials etc.. and ThruPaint becomes not usable.

I found there was a strange bug, only present on Mac Intel. I fixed the issue in LibFredo6 v16.0a, just published.
