the materials dropdown list used to only show the top level folders and materials in the materials folder, clicking on the folder would expose the materials in that folder.

      and subfolders:

2026: now, all folders and subfolders are appearing in one long list on the dropdown. so the hierarchy that was the previous mode has now been made into a single flat list?

not seeing this as helpful. maybe if there was a configuration option which let me decide if i wanted to see everything all at once, or just be able to walk my way though the materials...

When you add a root folder every child and nested folder gets added to the dropdown list.

In the panel itself you get the more typical folder based structure.

so, all of my folders will be on the dropdown list now? so, no more organized methodical use of the dropdown? so instead of easy navigation and using the dropdown to move up, etc, i just have everything without ordering it? really?

          please fix this.

I am not seeing this myself with SU 2026.0 on Win 11.

Also, the folders named "Materials" in %ProgramData% and %AppData% should only contain subfolders and not skm files.

            I'm not here much anymore.

              Hi!
...I have to agree with Gullfo on this (I get the exact same behaviour here): inside our firm, we organized the folders and subfolders maniacally to get an intelligible list. Now seems to be all messed up, and the users could be dazzled. Is there any chance the SketchUp team would consider a fix for this, or maybe a plugin to add some additional control functionalities?

I see the same long list of material collections. I have nearly twice as many subfolders as can be displayed on screen at one time. This has been relayed to the developers and hopefully they will revert back to the folder-subfolder thing.
